#5175005 IL-2 1946 Community Universal Patch (CUP)

Posted by Home Fries on 02 June 2015 - 01:36 PM

Ladies and Gents, the next big thing his here!*

The Community Universal Patch (CUP) for IL-2 1946 is available, all-encompassing, and amazing!

CUP integrates the Dark Blue World and Compressed Full Monty mods as well as makes many of the other popular mods compatible with each other and IL-2 4.12.2.  Additionally, CUP itself comprises three eras (separately downloadable and easily selectable): Dawn of Flight (WWI), World at War (WWII), and The Jet Age (Post WWII - Present).  It also includes a boatload of new maps (many of which incorporate shaders and lighting of the new graphics engine) and a Quick Mission Builder that takes advantage of them and is compatible with era swapping.

Finally, one of the swappable options is the "stock" 4.12.2 install, so there is no need to create a separate install for stock compatibility.  Additionally, no existing campaign files or datafiles (beyond binaries) are changed when swapping eras, so any JSGME compatible mods or existing stock campaigns should be compatible.

Here are the instructions for download and installation.

And a video while you wait for 30Gb of goodness to pass through the interwebs:

*Disclaimer: I've just been brought onto the SAS mod team, so I might be a bit biased.  :)

#5174857 Is it my imagination . . . .

Posted by Whizkid on 28 May 2015 - 12:47 PM

Don't all laugh, but I've recently become hooked on WoT (World of Tanks) which is quite good fun. It has a fairly easy learning curve and just the thing to relax you after a hard day trying to improve the profit picture of your Company! I initially scoffed at it, thinking it a haven for repressed teens and the like but was not only impressed with the graphics, (I have a medium range Win7 64bit) but that the starter level battles only last about twenty minutes and it's interesting how fast you pick up Tanker Tricks, like lurking in doorways, etc. My kill rate is abysmal right now, but hopefully it'll improve. Take a quick shufti at some of the YouTube videos and WoT Forum stuff. It might be good for you to relax after trying to save England and the Free World in CoD!

(BTW, I downloaded mine from the WoT website and it was an easy load for my diminished faculties!)

#5174839 Is it my imagination . . . .

Dream on, Joker! The day you retire you will, trust me, become the cheapest handyman and carpenter that your wife has ever found! It's a given that the word "RETIRE" becomes synonymous with "WORK HARDER FOR NO PAY" than you ever did in real life! However, with careful planning you CAN turn it to your advantage, and demand, in a very low key way, that, as you've been slaving all day on Project ? the evening is yours to do with as you wish. This is when CombatSim enters the picture, and you know what that means, I'm sure! So it has its positive side, but you just have to be a little more sneaky than in years past!

#5173995 We have run out of time

Sprayed my lawn weeds with Weed-b-Gone™ and the borders with Round Up™, then with the garden hose and copious amounts of water, I washed my deck and deck furniture.  Lots and lots of water.

Now I'm watching the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Bristol, TN.  40 cars racing 160 miles and getting only 5-6 miles per gallon fuel economy!  Mmmmm, I can almost smell the exhaust.  :D

I see that, it just came on Fox news a few minutes ago. it's good to see that someone over there has some common sense. It seems that some of the students should be sent back to the country where they originated, they obviously are not happy with the United States. ☺️

#5172967 No trademark infringement on the part of Eagle Dynamics (MiG-15 in Vegas)

I took a screenshot of a single frame from 1:20 in the MiG-15Bis Promotional Video.

No infringement on either Planet Hollywood, or Dollywood for that matter!

TCat! How the hell are you, man? You've been quiet too long. Bring us up to date on your dazzling life down there!

Waddya mean you don't like snow? It's just fluffy white stuff that God gives to Yankees to irritate them, so what's not to like?

#5170517 A Big Canadian Salute to US Marine Maj. "Fox" Sinke (ret.)

Posted by Old Guy on 10 November 2014 - 06:03 PM

Word to terrorists:

Be careful of old farts, especially those with military experience.  Most especially those who served in the Marines.

These guys have kids and grandkids.  They worked hard to give them a better world and what do they find?  Scumbags who want to kill those kids and grandkids.  That pisses them off.

They lost good friends in the fight against evil.  Now their culture is threatened by religious nuts embracing evil.  That pisses them off.

At their age sex is just a three letter word.  That really pisses them off.

So watch out for the old bastards.  They don't have a hell of a lot of time left and they'll gladly spend it running a sword up your ass.

S!  Major Sinke

#5170254 RIP, Jack Broughton.

May Col Broughton rest with the members of his fighter wing, and in (ahem) a different location entirely from LBJ and McNamara.

#5169195 Comcast vs Direct TV

Posted by Old Guy on 04 September 2014 - 09:23 AM

It's very nearly possible to obtain all your programming via the Internet, especially if you don't mind watching some programs after they've been broadcast on cable and satellite TV.  The biggest hangup at the moment is sports coverage.

I'm about to dump cable completely and use a combination of Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon for our TV watching.  I may go back to enjoying sports on radio.  The announcers are better anyway.  They have to talk about what's going on in the game instead of filling the airwaves with other crap.

Cable and satellite providers SHOULD be under heavy competitive pressure to improve their offerings due to increased use of Internet sources by informed consumers.  Unfortunately, as has been pointed out above, our nation seems to be mostly populated with Kardashian-watchers and other mindless morons, so the providers just keep raking in the dough.
