Saturday night musical trip

23 posts in this topic

Oh, nice, but rather foreboding for a Saturday night.

Time to lighten it up, but still maintaining classical, orchestra style music.

I give you Walter Murphy, from 1976.

A nice trip back to the 70s there.....and get well soon Robin Gibb.

It's 2am here, so I need to quieten it down a bit.

I know the music from Saturday Night Fever very well. The movie was a raging success and helped fuel the disco fires, but disco died in July of 1979. A sequel was released in 1983, Staying Alive. This movie brought in about 2/3 of the revenue generated by Saturday Night Fever, but it's a wonder that it had any popularity at all.

The title track to Staying Alive.

Wow I love the harpsichord, its a fabulous instrument, this has no harpsichord but it does have the violin, another favorite of mine.

My nephew (in-law) just posted on the FaceBook® that he and his wife are getting their 80's fix tonight. 80's fix? This kid was in diapers and pull-ups in the 80's. Anyway... since he's living the 80's tonight, I might as well relieve a little of it too. The 80's were good to me. Living good, going to college, and jobs were plentiful by the mid-80's. Life was going my way. Ok, some of the best... if that's possible... music from the 80's.

Oh, I almost forgot about one of the better songs to come out of the 80's.

Ah, to try and cover the 80's and musical theme, here's a song from a 80s musical but given some over the top finnish treatment.

Had thought to call it a night, but just one more shot of Green Label....

The B-52's certainly had a cult following. Seriously, if you liked them then you must have been...

Green Label? Johnnie Walker?

Oh yes.

...and an appropriate song from the 80s to go with it.

Aye, that's good stuff... so's the music!

I have about two shots of Dewar's White Label still in the cabinet. Definitely not the best of scotch, it's the most common bar scotch in the U.S. It's got a decent flavor considering its price and I've found if I put top shelf scotch in the cabinet it tends to disappear and I consume very little of it. <_<

I usually get Johnny Walker as it's the best taste/price combination as far as i'm concerned. This stuff is taxed heavily over here though, so the couple of glasses i've just drunk will cost about $20 to replace.

Anyway, one final song as it's really late now.

One of Radiohead's poorer songs, but the video is just awesome...

Thaaaaaaat's just freaky. I'll likely have nightmares tonight. :sofa1:

Good song, in my opinion.

Scotch isn't exactly cheap over here. Bourbon and rye whiskey are less expensive as they are domestic products and scotch is an import. With the increasing cost of fuels, the price of scotch has really climbed. A few years ago I could buy a 750ml bottle of Haig & Haig Pinch for $30. Today, $50 might touch that same bottle. :(

Nighty night, y'all.
