As I grow older... errrrr.... ahem! "Mature". This song means more and more to me. Sadly, as my hair is growing gray, it's getting easier for me to deny my obvious (inner) child. Kind of sad actually, but it seems that flight sims and hanging out here are now my only connections and outlets to my inner child. :(

Turn up your speakers and enjoy this live performance by Paul Simon, from Tokyo, in 1991.

And it's got one hell of a percussion rhythm! :)
When you know as much as I do, you become a danger only to yourself.

Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional.

Jailhouse Bones Davis, that's my blues name, so don't forget it.

The older I get the harder time I have keeping my inner child inner.

I haven't quite reached that point. I am to the point that I tend to be anxious to get things done, fearing that if I don't do them now, I might never do them. Working up a 1911-A1 rebuild project right now and worried that if I don't start on it right now, I might not ever get it done.

Stag, are you getting younger? Did you find the fountain of youth and not tell us?

Hey, I run around playing "Japs and Commandoes" on weekends.

Need I say more?

Sadly, no. I rarely even get to go target shooting.

I'm starting to believe there's some truth in the saying:

"We don't stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing."

I'm sure it is true. I need more play time, but I need more money in order to play, that means more time spent working, which means less time for play...

Another favorite of mine:

Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional.

-Home Fries

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing worth a war, is worse. A man who has nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety is a miserable creature who has no chance at being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
-John Stuart Mill

The average Naval Aviator, despite the sometimes swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy, and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.
