  1. Good stuff. I wondered what happened to the girl that inspired that Boomtown Rats song and it seems she's still banged up after 40 years.

Monday, what should I do, Mamas & Papas?, Bangles?

    No this, for sentimental reasons:

  2. Back to the terrain, and I've done an experiment using VRML's Elevation Grid (1025x1025) instead of an Indexed Face Set.

It's basically the same tile (mont1c_1) but is now about 10MB (6.5MB VRML, 3.5MB BMP texture) in size as opposed to a few kB. It looks much nicer though with some mild weathering effects

    and even nicer closer in

Anyway, Lean Viewer handles it nicely.

I just need to convert the other 159999 tiles now...and buy a bigger hard disk. :D

  3. I thought Genesis were excellent from 1970 (Trespass) to 1983 (Genesis) despite the change of personnel and style. After that, meh...

The peak for me was 'Selling England by the Pound'

Anyway, looks like we're back to hair bands. :D

Classic, pre-Phil Collins controlled Genesis, but at the point where on-stage theatrics were overshadowing the music.

Always thought Genesis was more than the sum of its parts, but I'd guess the most 'control would come from Tony Banks.

Strangely, Tony Banks is the only one that I can't think of anything they've done outside Genesis apart from the early drummers.

  5. Thanks for the critique! I try and mix it up a bit, but it's always 'sitting in front of the PC' type stuff.

I'm noticing a bit of a theme in your choices, so in the same vein...but also a bit of retaliation for not liking my second song:

  6. I think you're wasting your time. The Dude hasn't visited this site for years...

how the DJ's around Calgary play this bands songs almost 24/7

yes, the rest of the time they're playing this...the only band with an invisible banjo player. :D

  7. Not a big fan of the freestyle keyboard stuff that the likes of Emerson, Wakeman etc liked to do.

House of the Rising Sun is a classic though, where the organ holds the whole song together.

Some brilliant keyboard work in this ultra-pretentious take on Greek mythology..

  8. Nasty fire. The band's pyrotechnics set it off apparently, so kind of a tragic vertsion of 'Spinal Tap' :(

I don't remember the 1980's being much good music-wise, probably due to having other interests at the time.

From the last good Genesis album....IMHO of course.
