  1. The current hardware is way out ahead of the CastAR hardware you've got. I don't know if you've seen it yet, but Jeri posted a video on how the reprojection is done: (about 3 weeks ago.) g.
  2. Attached is a response I got from one of the Tilt5 folks when I asked about the IR fiducial a few minutes ago on their Discord server. Doooo EEEEEET! g.
  3. That's what I did. I ponied up for the $339 XE kit. There's a 30 minute video that Tested did that you might want to check out. It came out yesterday. g.
  4. Hrm. Not finding the image change link. Here's a link to their discord server: https://discord.gg/JjqBZe I'm likely going to get a set of the developer hardware if it's not too expensive. g.
  5. So from the ashes of CastAR comes Tilt5. https://www.tiltfive.com/ This episode of the Amp Hour podcast goes pretty deep into what happened to CastAR and why. It's pretty entertaining. https://theamphour.com/394-jeri-ellsworth-and-the-demise-of-castar/ I don't know that it's sim-worthy though. (How do I change my account icon to a jpg instead of the "G" on a colored background?) g.
  6. It takes a lot of horsepower to keep the tracking going - your laptop may not have the grunt required. I've shelved mine as I STILL can't get any docs on the native api. g.
  7. I've got four meters of RR material coming to me and that'll allow me to do a 2 meter (or so) 180 degree screen that I can play with. That'll allow me the luxury of cutting up some of the material I got with the castAR to make instrument cutouts for testing. g.
  8. I've got more experiments to do but I think it's perfectly suited to flight simulation. The FOV can be an issue, but nothing that can't be fixed by turning your head. The same issue applies to the DK2. It's going to be a while before we get a wearable system that can provide a "real world" FOV that matches our eyeballs. The tracking issue can be resolved by just laying the fiducial flat so there's less of a chance that castAR will "see" it square on. One way to use it that I think would be interesting is the development of a hybrid system. castAR would provide all the in-cockpit a
  9. I haven't had much time to work with them yet, but you can check out a short demo I did. http://www.youtube.com/f15sim and look at the most recent video. The jitter you see is caused by a math error that happens when the fiducial is facing directly at the castAR. They expect to have that fixed shortly. g.
  10. It's not that - they don't have the personnel to get it all done at once. The "normal" SDK is supposed to be coming after the holidays. g.
  11. Mike, the SDK is a Unity-only plugin at this time. There's nothing there I can use. It doesn't matter as my glasses STILL have not been shipped. Note that the delay doesn't bother me nearly as much as the near total lack of meaningful communication from T.I. THAT makes me want to flip a f*cking table. g.
  12. They're still working on it for sure - Jeri posted a pic of a current spin of the controller board on her twitter feed the other day. Here's the pic: https://twitter.com/jeriellsworth/status/461354393288200192/photo/1 Frankly, I don't care why the delay or what it is, I would just like to know what it's projected to be. The time window for me to work on castAR support for FlightGear has alrady closed because the SDK still hasn't arrived. I've got other things that I've got to spend time on. (Like the F-15!) g.
  13. I wish I HAD news. I expected a delay of course, just not the lack of communication about it that I'm seeing. (Or not seeing as it were...) My friend Rob went to a VR event a couple of weeks ago in Seattle and the little snot actually got to try it out. I remind him that he sucks every time I see him now. His review of it was positive though. I'm really hoping that someone from Technical Illusions gives the backers a better idea of what's going on. I'm less than impressed with their community interaction so far. g.
  14. \o/ If the train that's currently running at me keeps going, the video demo may be from the flight deck of an Aurora. (This is one of those times when I look up and go, "Oh, you stupid, stupid, boy. What have you gotten yourself into....") g.
