  1. STEINBRENNER ACQUIRES NUCLEAR WEAPON

Trades Alex Rodriguez to Kim Jong-Il

New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner acquired a nuclear weapon today in a transaction that sent slugger Alex Rodriguez and an undisclosed sum of cash to North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il.

While national security experts were divided over what possible use Kim might have for the All-Star infielder, there was unanimity of opinion about Mr. Steinbrenner’s plans for his newly-minted nuclear arsenal.

“The warhead that George Steinbrenner has acquired, if deployed on a ballistic missile he already owns, could reach Fenway Park in a matter of minutes,” said Donaldson Tobin of the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Tobin, who studies the complex web of relationships between rogue states and baseball owners, said that no one should be surprised by the transaction between Mr. Steinbrenner and Kim Jong-Il: “They’ve been friends since the late 1980’s, when they met at an Axis of Evil golf outing in Scottsdale.”

As for the deal itself, Dr. Tobin believes that Mr. Steinbrenner may have gotten the better of his North Korean counterpart: “For all we know, Kim Jong-Il may think that ‘A-Rod’ means the same thing as ‘fuel rod.’”

On the campaign trail in Ohio, Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry blasted President George W. Bush for allowing a weapon of mass destruction to fall into the hands of the mercurial Yankees owner.

“Thanks to the failed policies of George Bush, it is now easier to get a nuclear weapon than a flu shot,” Mr. Kerry said.

  2. In Ohio earlier this year, a season ticket holder was refused entry to a Cincinnati Red's home game for the flimsy and pathetic excuse that he was dead.

His family had brought his ashes to the match in a glass container. His son's comment was, "Now that's really something when you can't take a bottle of pop to the game with you."

  3. A man went to his boss's costume party with nothing on but a naked young woman on his back.

"So what the hell are you supposed to be?" the boss asked.

"I'm a snail," the man replied.

"What a load of crap!" his boss spat. "How can you be a snail when all you've got is that naked young woman on your back?"

"You've got it wrong," the man replied, "That's Michelle."

  4. I think I can disable it in the Device Manager. It also contains the dial-up modem, so I can't remove it because he still uses that at the other house in Maryland.

I'm like you Gunny, don't have much knowledge about laptops, but seem to be learning alot in the last couple of days! ;)

  5. Found at Dell's customer forum that this model of Laptop has a past history of a defective Ethernet card from the factory. Called and talked to Hadji at Dell's Tech Support in downtown New Delhi, and checked for a replacement card. No longer available. Transfered to another person in another area, they said no longer available too.

My question now to you guys:

Can I get one of those PCMCIA cards that would be able to hook up to a cable modem?

  6. This Laptop has a Cat5 cable connector next to the phone line connector. The Connection properties thingmie says that it uses a Actiontec 82559-based Mini PCI Ehternet adapter (10/100). I don't know anything about laptops. Does this mean it has its own Ethernet card, or does it need one of those credit card sized thingmies to work? There are two removable plastic cards in the side, they appear to be blanks, (just black plastic) to me.

Plugging in the Cat5 cable directly from the modem gets me connections light activity next to the Cat5 connector on the laptop, but still no web pages appear.
