  3. Gents: Our I.T. Dept at work always used Netsacpe , Mozilla and the like and routinely stripped IE from new PCs when they arrived.. They won't use Firefox however as they say it is just as vulnerable as IE. I have no idea why this is...just passing it along.
  4. I read this many years ago. It is apparently th gospel truth, and was just as amazing now as then. God Bless 'em All

  6. Did you notice that the launch of the Titan 4 has been delayed "indefinitely"..... they say it was caused by fuel problems..........BWAAAAAHA HA HA HA HA HA
  7. Ah Schatten....you must have missed the other thread. You won't be messing with the Canadian forces....but with the elite ,underground NLA (Nfld Liberation Army) ...as explained before we have our secret weapons armed and ready. Also we estimate that most of Boston and about 1/3 of New York are Newfie ex-pats who will rise up in Screech soaked indignation and wreak havoc upon the infidel hoarades AHHHH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA (ceases manic laughter, and runs off to to arm the ICBM "LARD TUNDERIN TOO" )

  12. Just for the record ...there is no 8 lane highway anywhere within 500 miles of here
  13. Something to think about while driving.... I was riding to work yesterday when I observed a female driver cut right in front of a pickup truck, causing him to have to drive on to the shoulder to avoid hitting her. This evidently angered the driver enough that he hung his arm out his window and gave the woman the finger "Man, that guy is stupid," I thought to myself. I ALWAYS smile nicely and wave in a sheepish manner whenever a female does anything to me in traffic, and here's why: I drive 48 miles each way every day to work. That's 96 miles each day. Of these, 16 miles each way is bumper-to-bumper. Most of the bumper-to-bumper is on an 8 lane highway. There are 7 cars every 40 feet for 32 miles. That works out to be 982 cars every mile, or 31,424 cars. Even though the rest of the 32 miles is not bumper-to-bumper, I figure I pass at least another 4000 cars. That brings the number to something like 36,000 cars that I pass every day. Statistically, females drive half of these. That's 18,000 women drivers! In any given group of females, 1 in 28 has PMS. That's 642. According to Cosmopolitan, 70% describe their love life as dissatisfying or unrewarding. That's 449. According to the National Institute of Health, 22% of all females have seriously considered suicide or homicide. That's 98. And 34% describe men as their biggest problem. That's 33. According to the National Rifle Association, 5% of all females carry weapons and this number is increasing. That means that EVERY SINGLE DAY, I drive past at least one female that has a lousy love life, thinks men are her biggest problem, has seriously considered suicide or homicide, has PMS, and is armed. Give one the finger? ...... I think not.
  14. Does this mean that certain cartoons, movies and TV shows are now illegal......Can gen Hammond on Stargate now be charged for threatening to send a nuke through the stargate. Will the "nuking" of the Cylon base star on Battlestar Galactica be treated as a war crime............
  15. Fog....rain.....wind.......still springtime on the rock
  16. If Custers men had fought like Napoleonic infantry I think they could have defeated the indians. They could have "formed sqaures" if they were subjected to charges on horseback and been quite effective in a tight controlled advance against ( one assumes ) a somewhat ragged fighting style of the indians. It seems to me that they were defeated ( as Jim says ) by spliiting their force and not fighting cohesively.
  17. 16.....if I only knew then what I know now...... I'd probably have died a happy man happy B day Cyclone !
  18. I have used Norton Ghost for years. It's a great program that can save a LOT of grief if you get a bad virus, or if Windows just goes t!ts up on you as it sometimes does. I use it like this: Ghost creates an exact clone of whatever you ask it to. The emphais is on EXACT. Its not the same as making a copy ( don't know why...that's too techie for me) I have Windows on a partition called C: all my other programs ( like FB , EAW , Word , etc) on a partition called D: and all my data ( music, documents, plane skins etc ) on a partition called E: I use Ghost to make a clone of my C: partition, so it makes an exact copy of my windows installation and compresses it. I then store that clone on my E partition ( or you could store it on a DVD or a couple of CDs. Now lets say windows gets FUBAR'd . I format my C partition and wipe it clean. Reboot and go to my E partition and run the Ghost executable file. I ask Ghost to restore the clone and in 5 minutes eeverything is just the same as it was before. All teh same registry keys work, all teh programs work and I'm happy. It's sort of like Win XP System Restore on steroids. EXcept if Windows is FUBAR , system restore won't work....but Ghost will. I make a Ghost clone every second month or so....haven't had to use it in over a year....but it's still nice to have. HOpe this helps
  19. You are going to laugh at this , but the reason I wondered was that I have seen recreations from the US Civil war and stuff on the History Channel where the US army and cavalry guys saluted "palm out". Good info on the navy salute though.....I figured they did it that way just to be different from the army
