We sometimes say the folks in Maine are just Newfoundlanders who got sidetracked on the way to Boston. Looks like Coraj is making the ancestral pilgrimage back to the holy island but got sidetracked in Maine

Hmmmm.......Did our new member from Nippon win his first fight ? A lucky shot maybe ? Too bad we don't have a Tempest yet. Would the honourable Ronin-san be interested in taking on a Spitfire ? If so, perhaps I can get one of No.32 Squadron's fighter pilots to take you on. My skills in fighters is limited , but perhaps one of these days I can bomb your base in my Mosquito.

A good one Donster EVERYBODY should attend your national version of Armistace Day, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, AZZAC Day.......or whatever you call it and whenever it is in your part of the world. These folks are the reason we are able to post on a forum without anybody ( except Doug of course ) getting on our case. S! to them all -
I moved files from my old Win 98 machine to my XP machine about a year ago without any problems. Hooked the two machines together with a USB cable and just followed the windows instructions. had to mess about with the Win98 machine a bot but it worked. Good luck

Not sure about down your way...but up here a poular method of set up is on concrete piers set below frost line ( about 4ft ). Unless of course there is no topsoil and then we drill & anchor right to te rocks. The big problem is that the suckers tend to blow off the foundations in any decent amount of wind. A common method up here ( if there is no rock) is to get a 45 gal drum, fill it with concrete with a length of heavy chain cast into the drum. Bury the drum about 6' and loop the chain around the frame of the trailer. For a rig like that you would need maybe 6 drums. Now you need a couple of old pick up trucks a ski doo and an old ATV to scrap out back

The "history" books say it was on Mar.31......but the union did not come into effect until April 1. I think that the next 50 years will be better than the last. We have finally been able to negotiate a reasonable deal on our offshore oil resourcse, it looks like we may finally be able to get a power corridor through Quebec so that we can sell our hydro power to central Canada and the US. If we could only persuade the feds to develop some guts and drive the Spanish and Eastern Europeans off our fishing grounds maybe the fishery will recover. And now a Newfoundlander is OC of the entire Canadian military ! He is already "stirring the pot" with the politicians for new equipment and more people.

56 years ago today , Newfoundland ceased being a country and became a province of Canada. The vote was 51% in favour of confederation and 49% against. My parents were the last generation of Nfld nationals , I am the first generation of Nfld , Canadians.

An era will end today when RAF Goose Bay closes for good. It is AFAIK the last permanent year round RAF operational air base outsided the UK. Goose Bay opened in 1942 and has been operational ever since. It started with bombers and a few Hurricanes for defense and in WW II was mostly a ferry base for bombers to Britain. In the cold war it was nuclear bomber base and there is still a Vulcan on permanent display outside the civilian terminal. In the later years it was used for low level training and had a Tornadoes and C-47s on station. This afternoon Squadron Leader Currie will pass over the keys to the Canadian government. The only air force left at Goose Bay is the Luftwaffe. In an interesting side note they (Luftwaffe) will be hosting the close out ceremonies for the RAF at their mess. The RAF mess ( The Bulldog Club) closed last winter. A note to Doug. Apparently they are looking at doing some seasonal training in Cold Lake AB. If they reopen the "Bulldog" then you have to visit. The wildest parties ever seen in the great white north S ! to them. Sorry to see them go
