  1. Well 4.5 is better for Falcon of course! .......also I think the auto OC might use too much voltage, I would like to have it so it only overclocks when needed though if possible, also I think its dropped memory speed from 1333 to 686.9 MHz?......voltage wise, with an i5 2500k you should not exceed about 1.3-1.4 so I've read?
  2. Neph I want to manual overclock to 4.5!.....out of time tonight though!, could use the help maybe on TS3?, also looks like the i5 2500k OC'd to 4.5 is one of best gamming CPU's around so thanks for choosing that for me.
  3. So basically if you want to really make the best of this Sim then get a 6 core processor......hell get a 8 core processor!, in fact why not go full out and get a 32 core processor! ........but don't get a 33 core processor.
  4. Well looks like Benchmarksims have done all they can to optimize Falcon, to quote Boxer of Benchmarksims..... "Falcon4 as a code base was EXCESSIVELY threaded at birth even when intended to run on Win95 which had no SMP support in it at all. The problem with excess of threads in the s/w is that it thrashes OS task management poorly. Worse, there is a ton of global data in the code and that creates locking issues that gobble a ton of potential parallel operations. Worse still, when locking was added it was done by (at best) inexperienced hands it seems so unwinding what is now a mess is for practical purposes impossible. Oh, and we need a halfway decent heap manager that isn't GPL'd or commercial licensed...that might help a lot too; the stock one isn't very good for the kind of scatter gun data structure management that is in the code. Empirical data gathering shows that Falcon4 gets ~30% improvement for adding a second CPU on top of the first one. Each CPU after that adds less each time up to a point (which is past 32) where adding more CPUs actually slows things down. Short version: we've done what we reasonably can already"........thanks for that Boxer.
  5. This Sim needs to be optimized for at least 2 cores, my GTX 570 is hardly taxed much at all with BMS, I overclocked card to 900 from 732MHz just to prove a point, shader clock up to 1600, made no difference with BMS, so back to default.
  6. I can easily stop all the drops completely by decreasing to Object Density 5 or 4, so its no problem now, I just wish I was one of those people that can't notice FPS drops at 30 or 40 FPS.
  7. Manilow is shite.......I'm posting this so I can find it easy this Saturday night because after a drink I find stuff like this ok, but hate it next morning.
  8. Hey I did a test with my wife, brother and aunt..... when FPS drops from 60 in BMS its clearly noticeable to me, it stutters bad!, but all others couldn't notice the difference?
  9. Neph you need to get the bus down there and see them in person, ask them what hell is going on!?, if you get any lip just reply in a nice natured manor, ask for a new board and walk out happy.
  10. I never use half the crap in Windows, I use it for the internet, games, and watching crap on youtube...and thats it really.
  11. New find!....If you have the update installed (BMS 4.32.1) then turn off multi-sampling in the game and use your card for the multi-sampling, I tried 'override the application' but game went choppy, so I set card to 'enhance application' and set it to 32xCSAA, turned on multi-sampling in game but set the value to '0', now I'm getting more FPS with smooth graphics.
  12. Ok did test 10 times!.....result looks good, highest temp 76 on core 3 but that was on test 10 : This was during burn test, note clock speed:
  13. yeah seems to be performing an energy saving plan at times, also i thought i might have noticed a rise in temp when its running at 4.3 but temp never seems to rise much at all which is good.
  14. It only runs 4.3-4.4 when tested to max, in idle its 1.5 or something, I think having the multi-sampling and HDR up to max keeps it working good for Falcon, I'm getting same smooth game play with no drops every time now so reluctant to change.
  15. Not for the faint hearted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RN8-VP810aA
  16. It overclocks to 4.3, never seen it go higher, but at least its safe in performance mode I think?, I read somewhere that to rule out drops in falcon you need to overclock to 4.5-5.0, but I'm getting no slowdown with 4.3, no I don't have CPU-Z but have similar software.
  17. OK first port of call for me is ASUS motherboard (P8Z 68-V LX) BIO's (press and hold delete key during system start up), you have three options in EZ MODE ( ECO, NORMAL, PERFORMANCE) select PERFORMANCE save and reset. Make profile in Nvidia set up for the Falcon BMS.exe located in th BIN\ x86 folder with following settings: Next change settings in BMS config to this: Next this in graphics options in BMS: Why HDR boom and blur and multi-sampling up to max?, no idea but increases FPS for me? MY SPECS: i5 2500K with liquid cooling system GTX 570 ASUS P8Z 68-V LX 8gb 1333hz RAM Object Density can be set to MAX however you might still get a drop from 60 FPS but not much, I like to rule out any drop so 5 is good for me and to be honest I can't notice any difference in the density at all? Good luck
  18. Well I've got it running smooth over Kimpo and front lines in campaign now every time I fire it up, so very happy........I'll post my settings sometime however I think everyone will need to find their own sweet spot with this Sim as every system is different.
  19. Sorry for the loss of your friend Angel........Magnificant video and a fine tribute.
  20. Oh I had 'wait for at least one vertical sync' selected in dgvoodoo but didn't work but it was because Nvidia global was set to force off.....sorted now.
  21. Making a profile for TAW in Nvidia settings, I want to force on Vsync but not sure which executable to make the profile for?, i.e. _F22 or dgvoodoo executable? EDIT: making it for the _f22 executable does not seem to work? EDIT 2: only thing that works is global settings for Nvidia so not sure which executable its targeting? P.S. I just turned clouds off in TAW options menu.
