    Thursday

Morning y'all, 73F, very humid, partly cloudy skies. Expecting a very humid, mostly sunny day and a high of 93. Let's not speak of the heat index that is forecast for today through the weekend. The 10-day forecast would lead me to think that by this time next week, we will be getting a taste of early autumn weather.

    Sunday

Morning y'all, rain and thunderstorms just after sunset yesterday heralded the arrival of a cold front. This morning we have mostly cloudy skies, which will remain all day, and 71F. Expecting a high of 89F. Not much impact from that cold front today, but tomorrow it may well be 10 degrees cooler.
  7. OH, Fick, I almost forgot. Here is a Porsche 911 ad tailor made for you.
  8. Hair Dink I did not say that you were correct, only that you had made a point about sports cars. You have misinterpreted (nothing new there) what I said.

    Saturday

Morning y'all, mostly cloudy skies, 73F and humid. Expecting a mostly cloudy morning, partly cloudy afternoon and a high of 93F. A slight chance of scattered thunderstorms all day and a good chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight.
  10. Hate to say it, but Fick has a point. Porsche has a long history of building good sports cars. When I was a young man, I lusted after the Porsche 911, but thought that the 914 might be an acceptable candidate as an entry level sports car. Alas, I never owned either, nor have I ever owned any sports cars and now I really have no interest in owning one.

  13. Road courses were the bane of the American muscle cars. This is one area where the current generation of Mustangs has a real advantage. The early Mustangs were very light weight cars and the 289 HiPo engine was a really good match for the Mustang. The Mustang began putting on weight with the 1967 model year and Ford began to offer the big block V-8 390 and 428 engines for those who were looking for performance. The wonderful 289 HiPo would be dropped from the line in 1968 in favor of the longer stroke 302, which never produced the same level of performance of the 289. The 302 4V would end up as a 1968 only engine, dropped in 1969 in favor of the 4v 351 Windsor.
  14. As for the Mustang years, yep, it was the 71-73 models that were the land yachts. I make such mistakes when I engage in PBC, which means Posting Before Coffee. 1971 was actually the last year you could get a true, high performance engine in the Mustang. The Boss 351 engine was a 4-barrel carb 351 Cleveland with a mechanical cam and I think it also had a dual point distributor. In 1972 Ford had the 351 H.O., which was similar to the Boss 351 except for the cylinder heads, which featured open combustion chambers and much lower compression than the 351-4V or Boss. The 351-4V became the 351 Cobra Jet, same engines, but the Cobra Jet had those open chamber, low compression heads that never performed as well and had a terrible propensity for pinging. 1969 and 1970 were the pinnacle years for the Mustang with styling and engine selection. Engines ranged from pedestrian inline 6 cylinder and V-8 302 engines all the way up to the 428 Cobra Jet and for those with deep pockets, you could get the Boss 429.

    Tuesday

Morning y'all, clear skies, humid and 74F. Expecting increasing cloudiness as a cold front approaches, then afternoon showers and thunderstorms and a high of only 86F.
  17. The land yacht version of the Mustang. The Mustang II ( a Pinto with fancy body panels ) was the worst of the Mustang line, but second worst, in my opinion, was the 1970-73 body style. Just way too big to be a sporty car.
  18. Good to see the forgotten war getting some attention.

Whiz, I think your analysis is spot on. There have always been people trying to change the U.S. since its inception and that is true of all nations. I think we stayed true to our founding and improved upon it up until the late 1960's. The hippie culture changed us. At first, their demonstrations got the attention of the media and that began to sway public opinion. Elected politicians, eager to retain and expand their power, began to change our government to appease the protestors. As we progressed into the 1980's and 90's, the hippies became our elected politicians, our college professors, and our secondary education teachers. They began to indoctrinate our youth with their ideology. It is a revolution and successful revolutions begin from within.

Missed yesterday. Completely missed it. Is there a department where I can request a refund of a day?
  23. These days the tinfoil hat wearers and other assorted wackados call them "chemtrails". They think that aircraft flying at an altitude at which the hot engine exhaust causes instant atmospheric moisture condensation is actually aircraft spreading chemicals into the atmosphere. Yep, products of our glorious public school system that cannot even teach basic science.
