It has been a horrible thing to see 5 officers killed and 7 wounded in the line of duty in Dallas. Their deaths and wounds caused by a man overcome with racism and hatred. It is a very sad day in America. Flags at half-mast, thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of the officers.

I cannot say that the Sherman tank was really all that great of a tank when compared to German designs. The Sherman was a good match against German tanks in 1942, but by 1944 the newer German designs were far superior to the old M4. In the final year of the war, Shermans won battles by shear numbers of tanks deployed, not by being superior weapons.

Morning y'all, watched fireworks on tv last night as it was a bit soggy around here. NYC display was awesome, Boston display had nice fireworks, but the music during the display was just current popular tunes. I'm glad I did not see the Washington, D.C. display as PBS dubbed in footage of previous displays. It's currently very humid, mostly cloudy and 71F.
