Morning y'all, 56F under clear skies, expecting a partly cloudy day of global warming. Yep, temperatures are expected to warm all the way to 77F, 3 whole degrees above average. Beginning tomorrow there will be a cooling trend, with temperatures at or below average for the next week or so, but that does not count because it will "abnormally hot!" today.

A belated happy thanksgiving to my Canadian friends!

Morning y'all, another chilly start to the day, clear skies and 46F. The local shaman has declared that today and tomorrow will be sunny, but very, very hot. Abnormally hot. Global warming hot! Expected highs are 76F... a whopping 2 degrees above average. I think the nightly lows and last week's highs that were 10 degrees or more below average offsets a few days of 1 or 2 degrees above average, but I'm not a believer, so what do I know?

I'm politically incorrect.

Morning y'all, clear skies and a very chilly, almost 10 degrees below normal, 45F. Expecting sunshine and 71F for a high.

I can't tell you the number of hours I have spent watching the videos at Zeno's. -
OH, no! You didn't! Bah!

Don't know, but that song reminds me a little of the Moody Blues.

Morning y'all, 59F and overcast skies. A few light sprinkles of rain this morning, then a cloudy day with a high of 63F. It will dip into the mid-40's tonight as skies clear up, setting up for a beautiful Sunday with clear skies and very Autumn temperatures. Post-tropical storm Joaquin is no more, it just vanished in the Atlantic, perhaps yet another victim of the dreaded Bermuda Triangle.

Another chic from the 80's, not particularly nice luftballons, but a great sound. And I like how she does Dirty Deeds.

Careful, Mikew. Next thing you know Herr Pick will be inviting you to his room for drinks.

Morning y'all, 59F and clear skies. Expecting a mostly sunny morning, but increasing clouds this afternoon with a high of 82F. Chance of thunderstorms tonight as a cold front passes through, tomorrow's high will be about 20 degrees cooler than today. Floor joist jacking and leveling was completed yesterday, floors are now very close to perfectly level, got a few drywall cracks to repair, but at least the new flooring will look good. A plumber should be here sometime today to reroute and reconnect the drain lines to the upstairs bathrooms.

Morning y'all, 54F under clear skies, expecting mostly sunny skies and 78F for a high. Post-tropical storm Joaquin is still tracking eastward across the Atlantic, but its forecast track now has it turning south and staying just offshore of Portugal. Yesterday, I said it would be a real pisser if Joaquin made a lap around the Atlantic and came back to hit the U.S. We'll know in a few days just how good my amateur forecasting really is.

Morning y'all, 53F under clear skies, expecting a partly cloudy day with a high of 79F. Hurricane Joaquin continues its torturous tour of the Atlantic, now predicted to degrade to a sub-tropical storm and come ashore in Portugal. Wouldn't it be a real pisser if it actually does a lap around the Atlantic and comes back to the U.S.?

Morning y'all, 47F under clear skies, yes, clear skies! Expecting sunshine and 73F today.

Morning y'all, 55F, cloudy and humid to start the new week. Expecting a cloudy morning, might see a little sunlight this afternoon, high of 66F. Normal, Autumn weather predicted for through Friday.

Morning y'all, cloudy, showers in the area, 59F. Expecting a cloudy day, 60% chance of showers and a forecast high of 64F. Probably an accurate forecast, certainly more accurate than yesterday's forecast high of 72F... which turned out to be only 65F.

In the spirit of the new world order, we will not keep all the wind and rain for ourselves. No, we will share it with you, spreading the wealth and all that stuff.

Morning y'all, 54F and wet as the nor'easter continues to pull moisture up from the Atlantic, a moisture stream partially fueled by Hurricane Joaquin. Joaquin's forecast track this morning puts it even further out to sea, so there should be even less wind, rain and tidal surges than what was in yesterday's coastal forecast. Today, morning rain tapers to showers, high of 72F, chance of showers expected to continue through Sunday. The plumber was here yesterday to disconnect water and natural gas lines to our kitchen. Monday, the kitchen cabinet people will be here to tear out the cabinets and counters in preparation for a kitchen renovation. There is some unevenness to the floor, so we had a foundation expert come in and take a look. Surprise! Bowed joists. The joists bowed because whoever built this house did not put a load bearing wall squarely on a joist. I have no way of knowing if this was by accident in the house plans, a last minute change in wall position (which is what I'm guessing happened), or if he was too cheap to use reinforce the area where this load bearing wall is located. No cracks in the sheet rock, which is really puzzling, but the foundation expert said that the settling may have occurred during construction, before the sheet rock was finished. Anyway, a few more thousands of dollars and up to a one week delay in completing this renovation. As I told my wife last night, I need one of two things. Either a full frontal lobotomy or a full bottle in front of me. We did not go to the liquor store, but this morning I do see a phillips head screwdriver next to the coffee pot.

And the local weather shaman is now doing the forecasts for North and South Carolina because they will be getting more rain from the nor'easter than we do. He's also doing "what if" forecasts if Joaquin had made landfall in Virginia.
-
Thanks, and it even looks like Newfoundland will not get a direct hit. The entire east coast of North America will be spared. Of course, the hurricane track could change, so everyone in North America still needs to run to the store and stock up on bread, milk, and toilet paper!

Morning y'all, 57F and raining. Today, Virginia gets hit by a nor'easter. The high today will be 57F, the low 52F. The forecast has gone from damaging winds and 4-7 inches of rain to 10 mph winds, gusting to 20, and 2 inches of rain. Hurricane Joaquin is now projected to pass about 300 miles east of coastal Virginia, so no impact from this hurricane. The local gloom and doom weather shaman are despondent.
