Well, haven't fired up NASCAR 2006 in a while (and it's Gamecube, yah, I'm an idiot) Boats, who DOES believe in trading paint and bump drafting

Aw, come on, Shchatzy, hang out with us at one Daytona Cup race, you'll be changed for life Boats

Neddie, that's: BOOGITY, BOOGITY, BOOGITY, LET'S GO RACING BOYS! And you're right, and wrong. Mostly, in NASCAR, it's go left, haul ass, go left, repeat. At Daytona, it's haul ass all the time, and just touch your brakes a bit going in the corners. You do NOT take your foot off the gas pedal, lest the fellow following close behind you sends you airborne Boats

Rjel, here's the difference between our "Babes" and Smith: the Babes are professional models, doing a job (and doing it well!) Anna Nicole Smith was a topless dancer (who was NOT working her way through college) who latched onto a rich ancient food-dribbling idiot who got sweet-talked into marrying this fine example of womanhood. Then after he died, she made herself infamous with her glitterati lifestyle, screwing everything that came along and was famous enough(and rich enough) to support her lifestyle until the rich old farts will got probated. Oops...her lifestyle caught up with her first, and she croaked before that could happen. Here's to hoping that her daughter will be raised to be a fine young woman, with both feet on the ground, and a sense of values and morality...unlike her mother. Oh, and our whole objection to this is the medias portrayl of her passing as a tragedy. It's only a tragedy in the sense that she left an infant daughter with no mother to raise her...which in this case might be a good thing Boats

Canuck, tell ya what: You watch the Daytona 500 this year. Juan Pablo Montoya (I'm sure you recognize that name from F1 and IRL) is a superb open wheel driver. He's got a full time Nextel Cup ride now, and you can see for yourself this year which type of racing is more difficult. I know Montoya is a great driver...but will he be able to handle all the bangin' and beatin' and bumpin' of NASCAR? You don't do that at ALL in open wheel, not if you don't want to end up in a grandstand somewhere. Any of you gusy that watched the Shootout, you tell me (and Canuck) what would have happened in the pack when they were 3 wide, 185 mph and a brick on the gas pedal if that was open wheel. Boats, who is NOT putting down IRL or F1...but who is tired of people who don't think that there is an equal level of skill and guts to be a NASCAR driver, just because they "turn left".

If you got Comcast high speed cable, the service comes with free McAfee AV and FW. No complaints so far. Boats

CoT is probably the single most dis-liked "NASCAR improvement" out there. Drivers hate it (will have to re-learn a whole new set-up) and teams hate it ( MO' MONEY), even though it's supposed to save money. Look to see a lot of contraversy at Bristol. Boats

Stans, if you watched the race as close as my wife and I did, you saw a LOT of potential wrecks averted by sheer driving skill. What most people (the "turn left crowd") don't understand is just how thin the margin of controlability is with these cars at that speed. The same "crowd" points to F1, but they don't see the huge spoilers that suck an F1 car to the ground, something that NASCAR won't go for, because they DON'T want the speeds higher, and they like the idea of a car on the verge of out of control. It'll be interesting to see how Juan Pablo Montoya handles a "little friendly bumping" and some "trading paint". You don't do that sort of thing in open wheel, it just isn't....done. Boats

First, all you NASCAR haters, all you, "turn left, turn left" gomers can go back to sleep. Now, with that out the way, it was a great race last night. It was some of the best superspeedway racing I've seen in a good while. There was only 21 cars for this Dash for the Cash, but they were still bunching up 3 wide. Amazing...cars would swerve a bit, touch another car...and no wreck. These are truly some of the worlds best trivers. And for you non-NASCAR folks, just think of your local freeway or interstate, where you have three lanes, and for some unknown reason, everyone is driving at speed...but everyone is also tailgating like crazy, so close you can't see their grill in your mirror...and the lanes are really, really tight. Now imagine the same thing, except you're going around 185-190 mph...and that you are trying very hard to get to the front. The pass that Tony Stewart put on Kyle Busch was a work of art, a thing of beauty. He got Busch just loose enough that he had to back off and move out of the way...and then it was all over except for the Victory Lane celebration. Great race, loved every minute of it. And now, we're six days and a handful of hours away from the granddaddy of them all...the Daytona 500! Boats

Yes, hopefully she'll be raised by relatives who understand the responsibility of raising a child. Boats

I kinda have the same attitude Canuck. She was trailer trash who married well, lived like a star (which she wasn't) whored around (is there a better description?) was a substance abuser, and in the end, couldn't keep herself from drowning in her own puke: Anna Nicole Drowns In Her Vomit Boats, who does not think she was any kind of standard for young ladies

It's only tough if you question your priorities. When it comes to my family, I'm never in doubt. And I would tell the little SOB, just before I begin the serious work of stomping his butt, that I CAN and WILL do this again, if he doesn't get far away from me and mine. Boats -
I remember one time, I'd been out drinking, drinking like a fish, mind you. It was one of those drunks where you have to stick one foot on the floor just to keep the bed still Anyway, I had to stagger to the bathroom during the wee hours of the morning, to, well, wee I felt something really ugly on the back of my throat, God knows what it was, and then, while I was doing my business, I hawked it up....damn if it didn't look just like Dougs avatar Boats

Donnie, the absolute truth about capital punishment is that the criminal will never commit a crime again. I didn't say I would kill the young man. I did say I would inflict pain to the point that he would never see my daughter again. BUT...had he taken her life, I would take his. And no father would ever have to worry about this scum destroying his child ever again. Byron -

Sometimes societies stray, or even become degenerate. The one constant are the basics of society: Pro-create. Protect the young, for they are the future of the species. Maybe it's because I'm from the South, and Cajun in particular, but there are things that I will not tolerate. I will allow the law one, repeat, one chance to do their job and protect my family. If they fail in their duty, I will not fail in mine. Byron -

I doubt if I'd have killed him. I WOULD have beat him to within an inch of his life...and as many times as necessary to convince my daughter was not worth the pain. A good lawyer would have gotten me off for that one. Of course, if this had happened in Texas.... Boats -

Well, Doug, I pretty much don't think I have a lot to add to a blog. But I am having a lot of fun with Capt. Lex's blog, at least the little playground he made for us. And if you know how to "write", and add some cool pics, you can make Whizzer look like the Skipper...well, maybe more like Arch Boats
