Yeah they get bored with all that round and round and round and round

Daniel
Sure, it's boring, mate, right up until they kark their knickers

Montoya will figure it out. He's a good driver. But he's got a few things to unlearn, and a few to learn.

Even though Mark Martin did not win...again, this race was a testament to how much NASCAR respects and admires Mark. Kyle Bush, who has spun more than one opponent out of the way, was very careful to not spin Mark out, even when it was apparent that the only thing that kept Kyle from a win was Mark Martin. Even Kevin was "respectful" in the way he got around Mark, and raced him to the finish. My whole house was cheering for Mark, and sad when he came in a very close second. Like Mark said, "I didn't ask for a win...all I asked for was a chance". Everyone who raced Mark at the end did just that.
Helluva race, one of the best I've seen in years. Looks like an exciting season ahead of us...just 35 more races till the Championship

Oh...Toyota didn't fare well. I didn't think they would. It took them a couple of years to start getting even in the truck races, it'll take them the same in Cup. And ole Juan Pablo? I bet the first thing he had to do was go change his racing suit

Like Darrel Waltrip said, "This ain't like F1, where you got these light little cars with a few tons of downforce gluing it to the track, and you get right next to another fellow once in a while...this is NASCAR, where the cars weigh 3400 pds, are a hair away from going airborne, and the cars six inches away from you will be there for the whole races" Juan Pablo gots him a lotta learning to do

It was worse than I thought...Mike could have been kicked off the track, and his team suspended for four weeks...he got caught TWICE with an additive in his intake:

And what would the horsepower boost be?
Gunny, this is a restrictor plate race. A plate is put between the intake manifold, and the carb that restricts the amount of air(oxygen) into the engine, to cut down on the top speeds (for safety) Someone thought they could get one more horsepower worth of energy. When you consider that the margin between first, and tenth, was 7/10ths of a second, and lap time of 48.411 and 49.085, even a couple of horsepower can be the difference between night and day. It's especially important for getting a good spot in the starting lineup, given superspeedways propensity for big furballs in the opening laps. You do NOT want to be in the "Big One".
I don't think Mike knew about. Mike has far too much to lose with his new team, and his relationship with Toyota. Putting that crap not only into the intake, but all throughout the fuel system was just plain stupid. It's an old trick, and not something new that NASCAR would have to figure out. That's partly why NASCAR was so pissed off. It was like a slap in the face to them. My money says that Mike is already looking for a new crew chief, because the one that got the $100,000 fine is going to be unemployed.
What I DON'T get, is how Jeff Gordons issue is un-punishable. A similar situation happened with Matt Kenseths car, where holes in his rear wheel wells were found during pre-race inspection, and his crew taped them closed, and by the end of the race, at post race inspection, the holes were back. Robby Reiser tried to tell NASCAR that the tape must have blown off, because the officicials clearly saw the highly adhesive tape going on. Robby is currently under suspension. Why didn't the same thing happen to Jeff Gordon, when discrepencies were found to his rear shocks?
Boats, who is still scratching his head on this mess.

I'll bet he got the windows fixed on that truck

This was out a year ago...but I watched the whole thing again. It's one of my favorite videos from the war, simply because it is so damn funny. Kinda gives you a glimpse into the mindset of combat soldiers, that they can go to this much trouble to do a video, while getting their asses shot at. Complete, utter contempt for their enemies, and good on them.

Canuck, I hope your bomb shelter is buried real deep. The Gunny is going to bring the whole can of whoop ass with him when he sees this

Doug, you can play EA NASCAR 2006 at full reality...but keeping the car on the track is damn near impossible at full speed. You have to do your own set-ups, too: trackbar, springs, wedge gear ratio, rear end, tire pressure...
But bangin' and beatin'...oh my!

Well, haven't fired up NASCAR 2006 in a while (and it's Gamecube, yah, I'm an idiot)

Aw, come on, Shchatzy, hang out with us at one Daytona Cup race, you'll be changed for life

Neddie, that's:
BOOGITY, BOOGITY, BOOGITY, LET'S GO RACING BOYS!
And you're right, and wrong. Mostly, in NASCAR, it's go left, haul ass, go left, repeat. At Daytona, it's haul ass all the time, and just touch your brakes a bit going in the corners. You do NOT take your foot off the gas pedal, lest the fellow following close behind you sends you airborne

Rjel, here's the difference between our "Babes" and Smith: the Babes are professional models, doing a job (and doing it well!) Anna Nicole Smith was a topless dancer (who was NOT working her way through college) who latched onto a rich ancient food-dribbling idiot who got sweet-talked into marrying this fine example of womanhood. Then after he died, she made herself infamous with her glitterati lifestyle, screwing everything that came along and was famous enough(and rich enough) to support her lifestyle until the rich old farts will got probated. Oops...her lifestyle caught up with her first, and she croaked before that could happen.
Here's to hoping that her daughter will be raised to be a fine young woman, with both feet on the ground, and a sense of values and morality...unlike her mother.
Oh, and our whole objection to this is the medias portrayl of her passing as a tragedy. It's only a tragedy in the sense that she left an infant daughter with no mother to raise her...which in this case might be a good thing

Wake me up when they turn RIGHT!!
Canuck, tell ya what: You watch the Daytona 500 this year. Juan Pablo Montoya (I'm sure you recognize that name from F1 and IRL) is a superb open wheel driver. He's got a full time Nextel Cup ride now, and you can see for yourself this year which type of racing is more difficult. I know Montoya is a great driver...but will he be able to handle all the bangin' and beatin' and bumpin' of NASCAR? You don't do that at ALL in open wheel, not if you don't want to end up in a grandstand somewhere. Any of you gusy that watched the Shootout, you tell me (and Canuck) what would have happened in the pack when they were 3 wide, 185 mph and a brick on the gas pedal if that was open wheel.
Boats, who is NOT putting down IRL or F1...but who is tired of people who don't think that there is an equal level of skill and guts to be a NASCAR driver, just because they "turn left".

If you got Comcast high speed cable, the service comes with free McAfee AV and FW. No complaints so far.

Figured out what happened but kind of embarassing to tell it.
The Windows dropdown had Unit grayed out so it could not be clicked. I gave up and sent out the help message. Started up again later and looked at it. Then I realized. In conentrating on the action as I had several formations of aircraft attacking a Red group of ships, I had zoomed the group window up to 16x level. And in the HC game, including the gold level, that closes the Unit window.

CoT is probably the single most dis-liked "NASCAR improvement" out there. Drivers hate it (will have to re-learn a whole new set-up) and teams hate it ( MO' MONEY), even though it's supposed to save money. Look to see a lot of contraversy at Bristol.

Stans, if you watched the race as close as my wife and I did, you saw a LOT of potential wrecks averted by sheer driving skill. What most people (the "turn left crowd") don't understand is just how thin the margin of controlability is with these cars at that speed. The same "crowd" points to F1, but they don't see the huge spoilers that suck an F1 car to the ground, something that NASCAR won't go for, because they DON'T want the speeds higher, and they like the idea of a car on the verge of out of control. It'll be interesting to see how Juan Pablo Montoya handles a "little friendly bumping" and some "trading paint". You don't do that sort of thing in open wheel, it just isn't....done.

First, all you NASCAR haters, all you, "turn left, turn left" gomers can go back to sleep.
Now, with that out the way, it was a great race last night. It was some of the best superspeedway racing I've seen in a good while. There was only 21 cars for this Dash for the Cash, but they were still bunching up 3 wide. Amazing...cars would swerve a bit, touch another car...and no wreck. These are truly some of the worlds best trivers. And for you non-NASCAR folks, just think of your local freeway or interstate, where you have three lanes, and for some unknown reason, everyone is driving at speed...but everyone is also tailgating like crazy, so close you can't see their grill in your mirror...and the lanes are really, really tight. Now imagine the same thing, except you're going around 185-190 mph...and that you are trying very hard to get to the front.
The pass that Tony Stewart put on Kyle Busch was a work of art, a thing of beauty. He got Busch just loose enough that he had to back off and move out of the way...and then it was all over except for the Victory Lane celebration. Great race, loved every minute of it. And now, we're six days and a handful of hours away from the granddaddy of them all...the Daytona 500!

Whenever possible (while re-doing the Db for HC2002 Gold) we used the paper rules. BUT...because of some quirks to the original, very buggy code of HC, we had to fudge a little to get the game to work the way it should. As a matter of fact, ATA was one of those very buggy areas.

Try looking in the Windows menu on the menu bar. There should be an item there for each display window.
Yup, dat's de answer

Shep, as much as it pains me to say it, I don't think Busch got Tony loose. Tony got REAL loose in that corner, and had to get out of it...and Busch just couldn't react in time. All he had to do, was take a bit of air off the read end of Smokes car, and that was all she wrote. All the real experts have come out real plain and said it was not Kurts fault. As for Mark, well, ya got a point there. My son-in-law was a Mark fan, till Mark pulled his in and out thing.
Still, helluva race, don't ya think?
