    Go NAVY!

Great pic, Dog...already passed it on to Pinch of Instapinch (ex-Tomcat guy) and Lex (ex-Hornet squadron C0)...didn't tell Lex it was on a 'Cat..if he mentions it, I'll just tell him there was no way to get that much on a Bug's wings GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY! Boats, who stands ready to repel all boarders
  2. "Let's go stack some horse" Major Mike O'Neal, "Gust Front" (For those of you who don't know, Posleen are four legged centauroids, with a pair of arms that end in opposing clawed hands, 99% are dumb as rocks, but hard as hell to kill, the 1% are God Kings, who are the leaders, and they will eat ANYTHING, including their own dead. About the size of a horse, and if every soldier in Iron Man O'Neals battalion of Mobile Infantry kills at least 1,000 Posties, they might live to see the next day )
  3. I agree about Hero...Cally's War will be another series all by itself, where Cally, Wendy, Tommy Sunday, and Poppa O'Neal fight the real enemies, the Darhel. For anyone who might be interested, Baen.com has at least the first chapter, and sometimes more of published books. You can also read books FREE online, under the principle that most people will eventually want the paper in their hands. And at the Baens Bar forum board, you can find snippets (pre-release chapters of books not due for release at least a year off) of Ringo's books. John does like to tease his little addicts BTW, I met him a few years ago, right after he got started, at a book signing here in Jax. He still does booksignings, and when possible, will do a get together at the local Hooters. Go here for more info: www.johnringo.com And yes, John IS related to THAT Johnny Ringo...a distant cousin. I know...I asked Boats, who loves Ringo for lots of excitement, good character development, and of course, a high body count
  4. "....is like a day of constipation"? Boats
  5. Don't know exactly what it means, but I know the context. Think "RIF=REMF" ANYTHING John Ringo writes simply kicks ass. His "March" series with David Weber is right at the top of the list, along with the Aldenata series (the Posleen). The Ghost series started out as a joke in his Baens Bar forum, when he posted up the first chapter. Everyone begged him to write a book on it, and now, #4 released today (I'll pick it up this weekend), and #5 releases next year. He has several other series, and I suggest that you buy or go to the bookstore and grab anything you can find. Personally, Ringo is one of six authors that I buy anything they have, in hardback, so I can re-read them at my hearts content. Right now, I'm reading "Choosers of the Slain" (book 3 of Ghost), so I'll be ready to dive into #4 this weekend. Oh, by the way, the people that hang out in Ringos Tavern call his books "reader crack". Start reading, you'll find out why Boats
  6. Chopper, I humbly submit that you Google "carbon sinks AND oceans". Things are not as dreay as you paint them. Byron
  7. I broke my ankle 4 years ago, and the SOB still hurts me. I think next year, I'm going to put a gun to the head of my company and make them send me out to get surgery on it. I've busted up just about every other spot on my body, but NOTHING is worse than a broken ankle. Boats
  8. Uh...J...ain't you a little old to be doing splits? Boats
  9. Donnie, you doing drugs again? Sure sounds like it @Stans Only 84 days till Daytona http://www.nascar.com/ And the Bud Shootout the weekend before Boats, who intends to enjoy a Florida late fall day: Duval County This Afternoon: mostly sunny and breezy. Highs in the lower 70s inland, upper 60s coast. Northeast winds 15 mph. Cya guys, gotta go water the palm trees, and wax the alligator
  10. Also known as the Hoover for it's propensity for sucking up deck apes Boats
  11. I got three words for you, Whiz: ANGLES, ATTITUDE, SPEED You guys should read more books on carrier aviation... Boats, who has read most of them.
  12. As well you should Boats
  13. Suggest you read up on a thing called "Carbon sinks". Also, there's a lot of stuff out saying that without all that "pollution", we'd be in a mini-ice age right now. Boats
  14. Actually, looked like a pretty good approach. The ball was steady, as were the datum lights. Nice glide angle, didn't dive for the deck, either, and neither did the pilot have to add power. Probably an OK pass, the best you get other than an OK Fair. LSOs are tough bastards with a grade Oh, and the aircraft was an S-3 Viking. Only thing on the boat with big two seat front seat, windshield wipers. The whistling sound of the engines is a dead giveaway, as the Vikings are also known as Hoovers Boats, who knows a thing or two about carrier aviation
  15. Wonder if there was a second burial that day... Boats
  16. One of the biggest battles I won during development of Harpoon Classic 2002 and it's follow-ons was free upgrades. Harpoon was plagued during it's long life with "new" versions that were really upgrades and cost the same as a "new" version. Case in point was Harpoon2 (first completely different variant of Harpoon from the original Harpoon Classic) and Harpoon2 Admirals Edition. The same was true of Harpoon97 (a slightly different version of Harpoon Classic that included an updated set of battlesets [scenarios]). I argued that paying full price for these upgrades over the years had cost Harpoon many players, and with it being a niche market, we couldn't afford to lose any more potential customers. So, HC2002 Gold was a $10 upgrade to the HC2002 Gold edition (which itself was a free upgrade to HC2002) so long as the customer had a licensed version of the game(another pain in the ass to handle, but worth it to build a customer base). Moral of the story: never think your customers are stupid. Hard core military sim players are anything but stupid, and they resent the hell out of paying for what is nothing more than a bug fix. We think you should eat the cost of your mistakes, not us. Boats
  17. Going to be a nice day today...high will get near 70, wind has backed off, the sun is out for the first time in days. My family will take their Thanksgiving dinner at my home today, and a fine meal, and thanks for being together will be shared. And as a side note, I'm quite glad to be thankful for the wonderful friends I've made at Combatsim over the past years. My best friends in the world, most of whom I've never seen. We're spread across the world, and chances are we'll never be able to shake hands. Nonetheless, I'm very glad to have friends like all of you (except for the Helmet guy, I think ). So, to you and yours, on the day of the year that we sit down and give thanks for all that we are blessed with, THANK YOU! Byron

    New Moniter

When have you ever worked (or played) at your "control station", that you werent looking straight into the monitor? And I can see my monitor from the side just fine, thank you...and it's a six year old LCD...with a real nice picture. Another consideration...LCD is a LOT cooler than that big damn CRT. I noticed that right away, when my 21" bit the dust, and I replaced it with a 17" LCD. Boats
  19. Dude, you like WAY need to move the hell south...before you freakin' freeze to death! Boats
  20. Have faith in Him and His ways, Arch. I'll add a note to Him myself. Byron
  21. You can pretty much put anything in gumbo...so long as the roux is right. I'm very fond of the style I grew up with, as andouille back then wasn't cheap in NOLA. Boats
  22. Decided to start the glutony early, and made a pot of gumbo tonight...shrimp, chicken, ham, crab meat, oysters...Ahhheeee! Boats
  23. Tacops, Steel Panthers, and of course, the words best Naval tactical simulation, Harpoon Boats
  24. We'll be waiting on you, Buster Boats
