I noticed the brown stains on the pilots seat.... Boats, who has enormous admiration for the Naval Aviators that flew these warbirds in WW2

Guys, look at the countertop behind them....and the wall outlet. Then think about camera angles. This picture shows a big gal, for sure...but the others, are really short. The big 'un is really around 5-10, 5-11, the others, around 5-0 Boats

Yes, and we love every minute of it... Boats

Could be really, REALLY bad...could be a Jeff Gordon fan Boats

I admire John Clarks integrity, his sense of honor, and his courage. It's the real reason why I've been known as JClark in a lot of places since '94, and if you ask anyone in the Harpoon world who JClark is, they'll know exactly who you're talking about Boats (IIRC, John Clark was a Machinists Mate )

Grand Prix...give me good ole US of A, born in the South NASCAR anyday..and you ain't gotta say none of that French stuff either Boats

Well, Joker, Boyd might have preached it, but the Air Farce didn't listen until after Top Gun started making Navy/Marine pilots look Sierra Hotel, and they started their own school out at Nellis. So, my vote for the issue still lies with the Navy Boats
-
Neddie, if I'm not mistaken, the boys at the Naval Fighter Weapons School taught that syllabus before he started preaching it. Find "On Wings of Eagles", the story of the birth of Top Gun. They taught Navy pilots how to use the vertical, how to use that beast of a powerplant, and they taught energy management back in '68. By 72, Top Gun gradutes and former instructors were seeded throughout the fleet, and especially on Yankee Station. The numbers say it all: Navy kill ratio prior to Top Gun: 2:1. After Top Gun: 15-1. And no, Randy Cunningham was not a Top Gun graduate or instructor...his squadron XO WAS, and he taught Randy the secrets to killing Migs. Boats

Nah, just got to have the right amount of charm...maybe start a conversation using the latest issue of "Guns and Ammo"? Boats

"You do mean John Kelly, don't you?" As Kelly, he was merely fearsome...as Clark, he was legendary I always thought it would have been better if Clark had assumed the Presidency rather than Ryan...the world would have been a MUCH safer place Boats

CID, I don't know any "Jimmy Clark"...but I've always admired the hell out of a guy named John Clark...the one that ate snakes for a living, and bounced red beach balls on his nose Boats
-
CID, is there some reason why you won't let this die, or did you show up just to start a flame war? I'm expecting Doug to step in and lock this thread any minute now... Remind someone to tell you the story of The Night Owl... Boats, as he heads back to the imaginary bos'n locker, to sneak a brew out of second classes stash....

Isn't she "pouring"? Boats

Chaps, what you said...Shep, that ain't no crystal ball you're reading, it's the bottom of an IBC root beer...and I think it got to your head. GO NAVY-BEAT ARMY!

Don't forget the broke-dick old fart snivilian shipfitter posing at a First Class Bos'n Mate Boats, aka, Byron

I kinda tend to think Barret Tillman IS an expert. He was the editor of Tailhook Magazine (the magazine for the Naval Aviation community) and has written several books, all widely acclaimed. Tillman, along with Capt. John Nichols, wrote the definitive history of the Naval air war over Vietnam, "On Yankee Station". Boats

Think maybe just the thought of having to handle all the babes by himself made him faint? Or low blood pressure (due to the obvious reason)? Boats, who will now load the boarding party, and take them to the beach. All personnel are ordered to keep their heads, arms, and other members inside the LCU. The Bos'n Mate will advise the boarding party when it is time to disembark...when he's bloody well ready to see your ugly faces!

Shep, looks terrific...but the way you spell it, is " LOS Angeles", not "Las Angles" Boats

Congrats, son, I'll have an imaginary cigar in honor of the lad! Boats

Man, I had to see that before I eat lunch? That was wrong, Deacon, just wrong... Boats

Shep, the facts are that Cunningham shot down 3 Migs that day (and two previously) He was not at that time, a graduate of the Naval Fighter Weapons School, Top Gun. A pilot in his squadron, I believe the exec, WAS a graduate, and instructor, and, per Top Gun SOP, went out to the fleet, and spread the knowledge gained by Top Gun. I got my facts from a much better source than the BS quoted at that smear page, "On Yankee Station", by Barret Tillman and Capt. John Nichols, USN, Ret., the definitive history of the Naval air war in Vietnam, and from "On Wings of Eagles" (forget authors name), the story of the birth of Top Gun( Google Ault Report, this was the genesis of Top Gun, and Capt. Ault was the father of Top Gun). I'm damned sorry to see a great Naval Aviator, and real, no bull-crap ace fall like this. It only makes it tougher for the guys still wearing the suit every day, including my son-in-law. God help the poor stupid SOB that dares to spit on him. Doug is too well disciplined to do anything about it, but I wouldn't mind paying the price of a night in jail myself. Boats

I thought it was funny as hell, but then, everyone has told me I'm a bit bent Boats

But would a Corsair have been able to go head to head with the Me-109s? Boats

And thus, when the Air Farce came out with a dedicated attack aircraft for the Cold War, and the years beyone, they named it, Thunderbolt II. Couldn't have picked a better name for the Hog Boats
