  1. They wouldn't have to worry about the tailhook, or the high AoA on approach to the carrier? Boats
  2. Procedure, MR...I used to monitor Harpoon discussion there...you usually needed an asbestos suit, and a strong stomach to hang out in the boards. I came within a hair of getting banned, when I called out the mods for not doing their job, but hey, I call 'em as I sees 'em. Boats
  3. I thought you crapped there? Boats
  4. I'm with the Gunny...sticking with the ugly sailor, standing proudly in front of the colors Boats

  7. You notice when he got the camera to follow his hands down, when he took his shoes off? Misdirection, folks, misdirection, the key to all magic stunts. Boats, who ain't been fooled by nothing since he got divorced 20 years ago
  8. Skip, it's an age issue... yours Boats
  9. What all this amounts to, is a lot of diplomatic arm twisting. Japan receives a fair bit of military tech from the US, including AEGIS radar systems. Japan is doing this, to ease off some of the pressure on the US, with regards to providing security. The Bush administration also talked the Japanese government into agreeing to base a nuke carrier here, for the very first time. A good deal of this, is to put N. Korea in it's place, and to give the Chinese something to think about. In case anyone hasn't noticed it, the PRC and the PLAN are building up big time, and this time, are building a blue water navy. 12. 4 Unless he murdered someone in your family, you must bail a friend out of jail within 12 hours. UNLESS: your friend was out with your hot super-model girlfriend, OR: If your friend was out with the dog you were trying to ditch, you bail him out immediately! Great ones, Doc! ROTFLMFAO! Boats
  13. Shep, Mark REALLY wanted to retire this year. His family wants him at home, helping with his sons career. He had every intention of retiring this year, until a member of the Roush team jumped ship, leaving a car without a ride till 2007. Mark and Jack Roush are real close, and Mark being the decent guy that he is, when Jack asked him to run one more year, Mark agreed. Man, the last thing Mark needs is more money. He just bought a bizjet this year, for gosh sakes! Cut the man some slack...he just felt like he owed a good friend a big favor, and he said yes. And no, Marks not my drive....though I like and respect him for his committment, and his steadfast friendship with Jack Roush. Boats
  14. Doc, that was a while back...and I'm at Mayport NS (no longer a NAS) right now, taking a bit of a break, before I go back out and slavedrive a bit more
  15. Actually, Biffle and Edwards tied for second Boats
  16. In the Navy, they call it "Bulkhead to bulkhead"....Gunny should know this. The sad thing is, that todays young sailors don't have a clue what that is, and will never be the sailor they might be without it. Gag..... Boats
  17. When you bowed, was your back turned to him, and your knickers dropped? Boats
  18. You forgot... "If you have a standing reservation in Gatlinburg, and a pair of ten gallon jerrycans, ready to head to high ground in case the state washes away" And you CAN'T have my tuna...it' squid food! Boats
  19. @Doc...spoken like a true Naval Aviator Boats
  20. Me (as CEO): Folks, we're going to have our Christmas party at the Ramada Resort. Employees will be able to get a decent discount on rooms. If you want to bring a gift for a fellow employee, please do so. If you don't get a gift, think about trying not being an asshole next year. There will be plenty of good food, good booze at cheap prices, door prizes, and taxis, free of charge, will be available for anyone who has too much Christmas cheer, and can't drive home. I know this might offend some of the "multi-cultural" employees. If you don't want to come, you don't have to. I'll give all who complain, Happy Meal coupons. Don't go off to the alphabet agencies to complain, either: I'm paying for this shindig out of MY pocket, not the company. Everyone else, have a hell of a good time, and Merry Christmas Boats
  21. "The conventional wisdom, as Troy points out, is that we'll never get good AI, because wargamers all play PBEM anyway, so money spent on AI (in the form of development time) is wasted." You ever do a PBEM, Bilbo? Lots of paper...other than looking up your OOB and the other guys supposed OOB online, and the most recent map, and the ref's decisions, you play it on paper with paper rules. Unless you think everyone flies in to one town, gathers in someones garage, gets the sawhorses out....? Boats
  22. Probably because there's a hell of a lot of people who are at a slow boil when it comes to lame AIs and what the game promised to be. And Grognards made the statement, that gamers who want tough "AI" play paper/board games. Not true. Those games that allow a player to manipulate the game, whether through scripts or databases, or even MP, can be a serious challenge. Even Harpoon allows a player to create a scenario, in which there are a multitude of units, and your side is vastly outnumbered, but the scenario IS winnable, provided you make the right choices...and those choices are obvious. 23. Mudville is a blog, dudes...it's a MIL blog And they are starting to get some serious media attention, as well. Bruce Willis plans to make a movie based on Michael Yons blog/reporting as he traveled with an Army unit, portraying Co. Kurilla, who has some very big titanium ones, and who is one hell of a leader. Willis was recently part of the homecoming ceremony for this unit up in Oregon. Since Bruce Willis is an ardent supported of the military, I expect this movie to be on target. And for what it's worth, that movie about the Marines got beat to death by the milbloggers, mostly for the whiny do-nothing little buttwipe the movie had for a star. Boats, who wishs fondly for the good old days of floggings and keelhauling... Ahem...the unit would be the Deuce Four...I'll let ya'll figure the rest out
