  1. Tough getting old, ain't it? Boats
  2. Know the feeling, Skip, went 5 days with cold water showers last year, till I lit up local power company and waved the mayors office over their head Even better news, that you and yours came through it safe and sound. Boats
  3. Good to hear it Joker...nothing scares the crap out of you more, than seeing your child hurting, and you can't do a damn thing about it except trust a total stranger with her care. Now that you're home, and everything is back to normal (as normal as it can be with a young'n hangin' around... "LIBERTY CALL! LIBERTY CALL! ALL HANDS NOT ON RESTRICTION CAN NOW GO ON LIBERTY". Go hoist one or two, shipmate, you've earned it...and it might help you sleep a bit Boats
  4. Nah, that's not for drilling....it's for SAWING! Boats
  5. Yah, he wants them to get back home, so the bribes and graft start flowing in again. What a typical NOLA mayor... Boats
  6. Bloody pilot was treadfully rude, not asking to play through first... Boats
  7. Worry about a Marine born in Ala-damn-bama, living in Ft. Lauderdale? You've got to be joking....He is well armed, I bet his wife is well armed, and any pack of blithering idiots that decides that ugly SOB is easy pickings will get a fast and painful lesson in Darwinism. And the Skipper doesn't live in a trailer, either, so don't worry about his house. Boats, who has more faith in Gunny than the rest of you...but don't tell that knuckle dragging Marine that I said that, he might think I'm going soft
  8. Guys, in my 40 some-odd years of reading sci-fi, I've seen a lot of things I've read about turn into reality. The REALLY good sci-fi writers, also have a large science background...like Arthur Clarke, Issac Assimov, and Robert Heinlein. Boats, who is now very fond of writers like John Ringo, who writes sci-fi with a large body count of bad guys/aliens
  9. I'm up! Uh....maybe there was another way to put that... Boats

  11. I'll hoist a mental one for you, Cfran! Boats
  12. Those young men have some very tall boots to fill...but if they have commanders like Major Richard Winters, they will do fine, and aquit themselves with honor. S! Boats

BAD BUNNY! BUN BUN GONNA KICK SOME POSLEEN ASS! You damn betcha, Jim! Speaking of Ringo, check out his new book, Ghost. And for sure, don't miss the March series, with David Weber, 4 of my most favorite books. It's not often when you read a book, you give a "yah, baby!" and shake your fist in the air, but I do it regularly with Ringos books. Boats

Sounds like you need to read about the Bronze Barbarians, of the Imperial Marines..John Ringo, and David Weber, the March series, some of the best military sci-fi I've ever read. Boats
  17. Remember that evil little SOB who has that church that goes to soldiers funerals and calls them every vile name in the book? Well, some good guys found a legal way to shut them the hell up, and I suspect that this will catch on right quick: From BlackFive(another of my favoriet milblogs) CHELSEA, Okla. -- An effort by members of a Kansas church to protest at the funeral of an Oklahoma soldier Tuesday was drowned out by the roar of motorcycles. About 70 members of the American Legion Riders group from Oklahoma and Kansas revved their engines as five protesters from Westboro Baptist Church held inflammatory signs. The protesters say American soldiers are being killed because of homosexuality in the United States. The protest took place as family members of Army Staff Sgt. John Doles gathered just down the street at a church for Doles' funeral. Doles, 29, of Chelsea, was killed Sept. 30 in an ambush in Afghanistan. American Legion Riders' member Cregg Hanson said Doles' family asked the group to rev their motorcycle engines when the Kansas church group arrived. The riders also formed a barrier and waved American flags to block the view of the protest. About 40 police officers were also on hand and Chelsea residents joined the motorcycle riders in waving American flags. Boats
  18. I've been using Eudora for over 10 years now, and I've never got infected by anything. There is both free and pro versions. And I wouldn't touch Outlook with Donnies....er....you know
  19. Man, I felt that one Boats
  20. Maybe, to put all this in perspective, I will quote from a book I just finished reading: Background...50 young American girls were kidnapped by those that wear towels around their head, and have already killed two of them live on Al-Slezera. A medically retired SEAL happens to fall into the mess, and has blown away the captors, and is holding down the doorway into the bunker where the young ladies are being held. Since the webcast is still live, the girls manage to hook up with Fox News...And, after some rather (even for Fox) questions about their plight, one girl responds thusly: Fox News reporter: "Heather, it sounds like you've had a life-changing experience!" Heather:" If you mean politically, your bet your ass. I'm a journalism major and a card carrying liberal. At least, I was. I spoke out against Bush's War On Terror, and protested the rest. The hell with thatThis is every decent persons war on terror, every American's war on terro, especially every womans war on these Islamic mother "pockers". Nuke these "pockers" Nuke every G_ddamned one of them. "Pock" the religion of peace. I won't shed a tear! And I'm going to vote Republican for the rest of my life!" NOW you know why I read everything John Ringo writes And for what it's worth, the area where that quake hit, is what's known as the tribal lands. The Pak government doesn't control it a bit, and Al-Queda recieves a lot of support, even hiding Bin-hiden several times. Maybe Allah ain't quite so happy with these folks Boats
  21. Buy 'em online...that's the way Harpoon is sold now. The market is dwindling for PC games, and the way that publishers are getting their product out, is via online purchasing, and either downloadd, or mail you a CD. That way, they keep costs down, and are more competitive. Boats
  22. Oh, and Gunny....the real reason why the Marines use the USNA for higher education, instead of their own academy, is that they figure they can hide the smart ones a lot easier, and not let down the image that all Marines are moronic knuckle draggers Boats, who is now running like hell
  23. Did you hear what the USNA Mids who are on exchange to Zoomie U out in Colorado did? Just before the Navy-Air Farce game, they painted the F4 Phantom on static display (an Air Farce pukes bird, that somehow managed to shoot down 5 Migs in 'Nam) in Navy Blue and Gold. Being smart Navy men, they used water based paint, so it could be cleaned easily, but it was a sight to see the next morning, when all the baby zoomies came out of their palac...er, dorms Boats
  24. See if you can sneak a trip over to redwood country, out towards Guerneyville, and Bodega Bay, where the movie "The Birds" was filmed. Spectacular landscapes. My moms mother lived up that way, and I'll never forget my one trip there. Can't speak about Sacramento... it's a state capitol, and obviously overun with lawyers Boats
