Friday, hot and nothing much else. 1040, mom's taken sis to the salon for a shear job (sis' started resemblin Tarzan on a bad hair day ) and dad's flight lands at 1220, so I've got the morning free. Bunked school, no reason. Been doing nothing all day but fielding Mom's calls, she left her phone here and told me to cover for her. Apparently hair cuts are outta fashion among the ladies. I've run outta ideas and plan on telling anyone else who calls that she ran off with sis while I was asleep, and probably won't be back till nightfall. That should keep 'em occupied. Oh, and Dad's gotta run to office as soon as his flight lands, so I'm bettin' he'll be in uniform on the plane. The last time that happened, it was right after the tsunami hit, and just about everyone on the plane thought it their moral right'n'duty to shake his hand and congratulate him on what a great job he and his guys were doing. He didn't mention that he'd been playing freecell all day and thinking the same thing

And not to forget 'What About The Heartache' and 'Hush' Dad and his buddies brought me up on a diet of all those 'classics', like Deep Purple, CCR, Foreigner, Led Zep, Queen, Alan Parson, Pink Floyd and the rest. Dad's also a big Doors and Moody Blues fan, and I ever since I showed him how to use a P2P, he's been in music nirvana. I don't listen to much else either, which is kinda a sore point with him, (" Stick with your own damn gen, kid!!") coz the only music that's been comin' out of songhouses here for the last 5 years are remixes of J'lo's and 50Cent's hits in hindi , and that's something I can really go without

How it all began... Probably an oldie but I've never seen it... In ancient Israel, it came to pass that a trader by the name of Abraham Com did take unto himself a young wife by the name of Dot. And Dot Com was a comely woman, broad of shoulder and long of leg. Indeed, she had been called Amazon Dot Com. She said unto Abraham, her husband, "Why doth thou travel far from town to town with thy goods when thou can trade without ever leaving thy tent?" And Abraham did look at her as though she were several saddle bags short of a camel load, but simply said, "How, Dear?" And Dot replied, "I will place drums in all the towns and drums in between to send messages saying what you have for sale and they will reply telling you which hath the best price. And the sale can be made on the drums and delivery made by Uriah's Pony Stable (UPS)." Abraham thought long and decided he would let Dot have her way with the drums. The drums rang out and were an immediate success. Abraham sold all the goods he had at the top price, without ever moving from his tent. But this success did arouse envy. A man named Maccabia did secret himself inside Abraham's drum and was accused of insider trading. And the young man did take to Dot Com's trading as doth the greedy horsefly take to horse flesh. And, before very long, there were many others and They were called Nomadic Ecclesiastical Rich Dominican Siderites, or NERDS for short. And lo, the land was so feverish with joy at the new riches and the deafening sound of drums, that no one noticed that the real riches were going to the drum maker, one Brother William of Gates, who bought up every drum company in the land. And indeed did insist on making drums that would work only with Brother Gates' drumheads and drumsticks. Dot did say, "Oh, Abraham, what we have started is being taken over by others." And as Abraham looked out over the Bay of Ezekiel, (or as it came to be known "eBay”) he said, "we need a name that reflects what we are," and Dot replied, "Young Ambitious Hebrew Owner Operators." "YAHOO", said Abraham. And that is how it all began, It wasn't Al Gore after all.

Would that be Scapa Flow? There were a large bunch o' D's, 2Bs, 4 escs and 3 patrol boats taking shelter, I slunk in from the 18m eastern shallow, got bearings on 5 of the big ones. Did a slow turn and fired off 4 fore and 1 aft, and headed out to the deep. 4 torps hit, I got a B, and 2 Ds, but those darn patrols chased me out. Luckily there was a large grid o' shallows out nor-east, i got into them and waited the patrols out. Ran into the Royal Ark operating from west Norway, gave her escorts a scare, and got home 3 weeks later. Had to take a roundabout route south of the channel, 'coz they stepped up patrols after my ambush, but got home safe. Loved that mission.

Wireless hasn't even bothered lookin' this way, everything here runs on lines. Most people used dial-up at 2-5kbps till about 4 years ago, but broadband has really taken off, and you can get speeds of upto a 100 kbps in civi zones. We've got a dedicated rigup for the naval offrs housing areas, and it is really fast, 'coz I can download stuff at >1MBps no prob, but the standard is usually <200 in the rest of the country. The installations in the Andaman & Nicobar tried using satellite, but people who go there are usually the one's wanting to be left alone, so it didn't take off there either. A couple of big firms are planning on implementing it, and I hear parts of Mumbai and Delhi are already on it, but I cant confirm that.

'ptach!! Guess I'll stick with Worms. Dad'll become a Dread Lord if I ask him for a sys like that. This country isn't hot on gaming, and anything with more'n 256mb memory belongs to the supercomputer genre. A decent graphics card sells for the average monthly income of a school teacher here, so anything that can run starlancer is a good system. Come to think of it, I dont even know anyone with a graphics card. And dad flipping is something I can do without Yup, I'll stick with worms. when I start earning, that's when I get an upgrade. Till then its drooltime.

Evening all, 1822 pm here, thursday's gone well. Been online for a long time today, downloaded more junk than good. Listening to Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers loud enough to bring the neighbours running, and trying to work up a minesweeper time of less'n 999 secs. Getting Rogue Squad tomorrow morning, but I might not get to play too much, coz dad's gettin back in the afternoon. The car papers didn't get done, 'coz the darn RTO guys asked for way more than the accepted amount set by the Ministry for Bribes and Other Underhand Exchanges (Moby Dick, for short. MoB dicks, thats why ) Anyway, good thursday to y'all, its supposed to be the day when people are at their best. Seems to be working for Stans, atleast

1. I'm not into working out. My philosophy is no pain, no pain. 2. I'm in shape. Round is a shape. 3. I'm desperately trying to figure out why Kamikaze pilots wore helmets. 4. Do illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup? 5. I've always wanted to be somebody, but I should have been more specific. 6. Ever notice when you blow in a dog's face he gets mad at you, but when you take him in a car he sticks his head out the window. 7. Ever notice that anyone going slower than you is an idiot, but going faster is a maniac? 8. You have to stay in shape. My mother started walking 5 miles a day when she was 60. She's 97 now and we have no idea where she is! 9. I have six locks on my door, all in a row. When I go out, I lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks; they are always locking three of them. 10. One out of every three Americans is suffering from some form of mental illness. Think of two of your best friends. If they are OK, then it must be you. 11. They show you how detergents take out bloodstains. I think if you've got a T-shirt with bloodstains all over it, maybe your laundry isn't your biggest problem. 12. Ask people why they have deer heads on their walls and they tell you it's because they're such beautiful animals. I think my wife is beautiful, but I only have photographs of her on the wall. 13. Future historians will be able to study at the Jimmy Carter Library, the Gerald Ford Library, the Ronald Reagan Library and the Bill Clinton Adult Bookstore.

Can the English language survive after Bush? "The vast majority of our imports come from outside the country. " - George W. Bush "If we don't succeed, we run the risk of failure." - George W. Bush "One word sums up probably the responsibility of any Governor, and that one word is ' to be prepared '." - George W. Bush "I have made good judgments in the past. I have made good judgments in the future. " - George W. Bush " The future will be better tomorrow." George W. Bush " We're going to have the best educated American people in the world." - George W. Bush " I stand by all the misstatements that I've made." - George W. Bush "We have a firm commitment to NATO, we are a part of NATO. We have a firm commitment to Europe We are a part of Europe." - George W. Bush " Public speaking is very easy." - George W. Bush "A low voter turnout is an indication of fewer people going to the polls." - George W. Bush "We are ready for any unforeseen event that may or may not occur. " - George W. Bush "For NASA, space is still a high priority." - George W. Bush "Quite frankly, teachers are the only profession that teach our children. " - George W. Bush "It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it." - George W. Bush " It's time for the human race to enter the solar system." - George W. Bush No, really

I played SH2 for some time, and never figured out how to evade surface units. Run silent, run deep just doesn't seem to work for u-boats. Is it something with the game, or is staying motionless way below the thermocline not enough to remain undetected? I played Hunter/Killer 988(I) before sh2, and in both 988 as well as SSN, evading surface units was quite easy. But none of the tricks seem to work in SH2. Any ideas?

Just to cheer ya up, its been a hot day, with temperatures crossing 40C, a very warm sea breeze, and humidity at 80pc. No sign of clouds in the sky, monsoons're 4 months away. Day went well, exam from 7 to 1700, totally fagged out. Couldn't get a seat in the hour long bus ride, finally got home by 6. A quick bite later I was down at the pool, though today wasn't much of a swim. Did a few laps to shake off the fatigue, but couldn't work up a rhythm. (wow, that almost sounds professional!!). On my way back I yakked with 2 chicks for about an hour, though there wasn't too much flirting to be done, coz of kid sis's presence. Dinner by 9, too tired to study, so I've got permit to crash early tonight. Tomorrow's a local New Year festival called Ugadi, the state govt has made absolutely sure every school gives a hol, so I'll be home tomorrow. Plannin' on being online quite a bit too. After all, with 3 hols in a year, I should definitely not waste 'em, right ??? G'nite all east, and various stages of g'day to y'all west. As for me, I'm outta. Cyc.

Yeah, well, thats how it is Anyways, its 0530, just finished my brekka, gonna head out for school. I'll be back by 2000, and plan to spend atleast 2 hours on Csim, spamming away. I hope the weather melts mom a bit, so that she lets me out for a swim when I get back. I'll probably see you guys when we're all comfortably into Wednesday. Have a good day, everyone. Cyc

Its 0000 on a cloudless, hot, humid wednesday morning, with a forecasted max of 40C today. Wow, if this is spring, I dont even want to imagine what summer's gonna be like. Dads gone South, gotta redo our car papers (he lost 'em last week). He got his trip made official under some pretext or the other, its been fixed up as a TyDuty, so he's on paid vacation. Surf, sand, and a lot of cocoa. Nuts. Kochi, on the southwest coast. He'll be back friday, so i'm free till then. Got an exam in 6 hours, know absolutely nothing, but hey, its objective, so I'm not worked up. If I get even 20% right, thats still more than how much I get when I study and go:lol: Though that negative marking might cause some issues. Anyways, to hell with it. I'm more worried about this girl I'm gonna meet at 530 am sharp, cause she expects an official statement from me about our <ahem> relationship, and I'm happy the way it is (hey, I haven't seen her for a month, I dont even remember what she looks like) Sweet talking her in the back seat of a bus filled with 50 other laughing classmates' isn't gonna be easy, so help!!!! Gonna grab some winks now, See ya all wed late nite, app 22 hours from now. G'nite/morning all Cyc PS- anyone on Hi5?

On 13th Apr 1989 ... The Number 1 single was: The Bangles - "Eternal Flame" For Number 1 single over the subsequent years Click Here The Number 1 album was: Deacon Blue - "When The World Knows Your Name" For Number 1 album over the subsequent years Click Here Born on 13th Apr: 1934 - Horace Kay ( The Tams ) 1943 - Eve Graham ( The New Seekers ) 1944 - Brian Pendleton ( The Pretty Things ) 1946 - Al Green 1951 - Max Weinberg ( E Street Band ) 1951 - Peabo Bryson 1954 - Jimmy Destri ( keyboard player, Blondie ) ------------------------------- Mom's a Bangles fan, I've only heard Walk Like An Egyptian, and (if its one of theirs, i'm not sure) Honesty. Wasn't the E-street band the one that played with Springsteen? And I was just watchin' Blondie on Parkinson's. Something struck me as really odd about the lady, can't quite put a finger on it though. Dont know any of the others.
