He had been told by his boss that he must lay off one of his employees, either Mary or Jack. His choice was very tough. Mary had been a devoted employee for over ten years, and Jack was an excellent worker with a family to support. That night the VP tossed & turned in his sleep trying to decide which one he should lay off. Finally he decided, the first one to come in to work the next day would be the one. Morning comes, and the VP is waiting at the office for one of them to arrive. At 7:55, Mary walks in. "Mary, I've got a difficult decision to make," he tells her.
