The Dude Posted March 8, 2007 Report Share Posted March 8, 2007 The West of Canada has been asking for a EEE (effective, equal, elected) senate here for decades. Still don't have one. Maybe this move in Britain will give the idea new legs here. Although, I must say, I'm not a big fan of multilayered governments in the first place and an elected senate is, well, just another layer of highly paid bafflegabbers who consume more than they produce. The trick ( for NFld at least ) would be to have the same numbers of senators from each province. That way the small provinces get equal representation. In the commons, the small provinces get no voice now because of their small populations.
