No105_Archie
The Virginian-Pilot; :Mar 14, 2007; :Hampton Roads, Virginia BY LINDA MCNATT THE VIRGINIAN-PILOT SUFFOLK — It all started when a Wonderland Forest resident took a stroll to his mailbox Tuesday morning. The man, a heart patient, unknowingly dropped his nitroglycerin pills from his pants pocket. When a neighbor found them a few minutes later, she put the bottle on top of the community mailbox and a note on the front: Nitro in mailbox. The third person to visit the boxes saw the note and called 911, and emergency services swung into action. The State Police bomb squad joined them to storm the mailbox at the entrance to the subdivision across from Nansemond River High School. Nitroglycerin, in its liquid state, is an explosive. In pill form, it’s a common treatment for chest pain. In written form, it persuades emergency workers to rope off an area and tell nearby residents to stay inside. “It’s a sign of the times,” said Capt. Jim Judkins, spokesman for Suffolk Department of Fire & Rescue. “People see something like this, they immediately think terrorism. It was a good exercise.” It started about 11:45 a.m. and ended more than two hours later. The authorities didn’t identify the owner of the pills. But he got them back. Spectre_USA
It sounds like there are at least a few folks out that away with an above room temperature IQ. I think in most boroughs in the land, a detonation of the whole mailbox structure would have occurred.
Stans
Yeah, some localities would have blown up the mailbox, only to find little nitroglycerin tablets scattered all over the ground.
