Ship leaving port in heavy seas.

Container ship in a storm, interesting footage of the interior of the boat showing just how much a modern ship will flex.

That whole series of Youtube vids about ships in heavy seas are scary as hell! Especially the one of what looks like a Ferry with a gold star on the funnel. Now I see how they lose those Ferrys if they roll like that!

Before you noobs start shouting "no freakin' way", let me tell you from this 35 years of experience that a a ship flexing is EXACTLY RIGHT. Ships HAVE TO flex to stay afloat. If they are rigid, they will crack. Thats why it's critical to achieve the right balance and dynamic of stiffening. Too much, crack and sink, too little, break in half and sink.
