What a race! I have gained even more respect for the Car of Tomorrow after seeing two big wrecks that did not result in injury or cars damaged beyond repair and several episodes of cars getting bumped around, turned a bit sideways and the drivers were able to stay on the track and continue to race hard. Lots of three and four wide racing, teams and friends working together, then a finish where it was each man for himself. Too bad Hamlin or Junior didn't win, they sure spent plenty of time at the front today.

Interesting to see how well Junior is doing (and consistently) now that he is away from DEI.

Yep, that was a good race. That moment near the end when Kyle Busch should have wrecked with Jamie McMurray was pretty spectacular...them boys was sideways at 200+ MPH. The rear wing design of the CoT definitely allowed both drivers to gather things back up without causing "the big one".

Unlike the Nationwide Series race on Saturday. I saw the highlights on the news and the Car of Yesterday certainly likes to go airborne.

Any car will go airborne when an idiot merges right in front of you from the pit exit.

D'oh!

Kevin Lepage was the driver of that car, and Saturday would not own up to causing the accident. Sunday, he hung around the track till he saw a Fox reporter, and owned up. Said once he saw the film, it was very apparent that he screwed the pooch. I can imagine that his spotter got an butt-whipping, too.

And what keeps that COT from doing those spin-outs (or reduces them) are those little ridges along the edge of the room line, right above the windows. That and the raised roof flaps that pop up when the car starts to get sideways. Ole Jeff Hammond gave a good description of how that works.

And yah, 'dega was a hell of a race. Couldn't believe it when Tony and Jr. got 3 seconds ahead of everyone else, with just themselves to draft with.
