mane_raptor
Morning, Fog! Can't see across the driveway, it's so thick. Headed out to grab some grass seed, gas, and other assorted things needed for lawn care. I figure now that Cinco de Mayo is over I can get back to yard work without feeling guilty. mane_raptor
Go ahead and laugh Tooth Boy, but I got some serious dead spots on the lawn. A got a patch about 50' by 60' of dead ground. Had a new leach field put in last year and what ever grass seed they used was deader than a deer out on a highway during a pulp truck convention. Stans
I'm sure the contractor used some cheap, contractor grade rye grass. That stuff either won't germinate or it germinates and dies within a few weeks. The cinco de Mayo thing was funny.
mane_raptor
Actually I think the problem was that they put down a too thick cover of hay when they seeded. I got some clumps of grass here and there, with large patches of dirt in between the clumps. I never mowed it cause the whole area was too soft all last summer to run a mower over it. The lower half of the area seems ok, it's just the upper half that has the problem. I'm hoping to get some grass to sprout this summer, enough to prevent erosion, then I figure I'll be re-seeding it for a couple of years until I get it back to the shape it was in before............crabgrass, dandilions, and something that resembles lawn grass. And if that don't work, then I'll be planting the other kind of grass and hoping to at least make a profit.
