Spear 0
ADF installation not needed. secondly. F-22 Total Air War is in two flavors: Direct3D and Glide. F-22 2008 v.1(-R) is only Direct3D. all in all, Direct3D is dependent on DirectX as far as I know. Glide is what you want if you have a Voodoo 3D card. the TAW_RES.COM patcher works only for the Direct3D version. if you use the Glide version, the glVoodoo wrapper can do the same thing as the TAW_RES.COM patcher. read the 08FAQ.txt file for detailed information. the Glide version wasn't included with F-22 2008. if you want it, go to SimHQ and ask for it. Dragon2781 0
OK, thank you very mutch! Now I understand. I think Direct3D will suffice me. I will try this today after work.
Dragon2781 0
I installed F22 2008 and ran TAW_RES.COM. I choosed 1024x768. Then I edited the game.cfg file (REZ=3) like written in the Readme. I starded the game and in the main menu I clicked to options to choose the new resolution. But before the options appear the game crashed with a errormessage: "Un-supported screen resolution: 3"
Spear 0
logical explanation, read carefully please. after you use TAW_RES.COM, you CANNOT GO TO OPTIONS ANYMORE. this is why you MANUALLY have to put REZ=3 in game.cfg -- because the game can't do it by itself. so you either manually edit game.cfg, or go to Options without the 1024x768 patch applied, to change settings such as volume and effects. with REZ=3, when you want to play the game, you'll be in 1024x768 from now on, understand? Dragon2781 0
Ah... Yes I understand. But there is also a errormessage if I want to start a mission. It's not the same like the one for the options. I don't know the exactly text but I will take a look today after work. I hope we can fix this problem I can't wait to play the game in 1024x768! The best Flightsim ever! (for me)
Spear 0
I'm here to help. and what error does the mission give you (and which mission?), I want to hear.
Dragon2781 0
I starded the "Takeoff" (first trainingmission). The text of the errormessage I will give you today evening when I'm @ home. Thanks for your engagement.
Dragon2781 0
That's the error if start the first trainingmission:
Spear 0
sorry, but that clearly has NOTHING to do with the mission. does it show the same for any other missions? have you even tried running the game without the 1024x768 patch, in 800x600 resolution?
Dragon2781 0
I trieed only the first trainingmission but in my opinion this will appear on every mission. I trieed it with 800x600. It's working without errormessage. I will try it today on my other PC (Win98). Maybe it depends on XP.
Spear 0
unfortunately, this could mean that your computer / video card does not support 1024x768 resolution. sorry.
Dragon2781 0
Hm.... I'm wondering if XP can't be displayed in 1024x768. It's a two year old ATI with 265Mb... (or 512???? I don't know anymore) Doom3, Quake4, F.A.E.R etc. were my last games. Nevermind! I will test it on the old Win98-PC. I hope this old video card support 1024x768..... Dragon2781 0
A freind was testing F22 2008 with my guidance. It is working on his PC but after some time it crashed also. "Program fault at 0x61C235, cleaning up an exiting" I don't think that my old Win98-PC can handel with 1024x768.... I will try the Gild (1600x1200) on the XP-PC: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topi...html#Post704684 Hope this will work
Spear 0
LOL, you're struggling this much only to get a higher resolution -- the F-22 2008 project is NOT just about running F-22 TAW in a higher resolution. anyway, good luck, and have fun.
Dragon2781 0
I know. The new HUD and the lot of missions are awesome. But I want to make the best of the game with the high resolution.
Dragon2781 0
Question: Can you give me a link to the DgVoodoo wrapper? This is not working anymore: Topic Link I found a impressive example: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2216872/1.html Edit: Got it! http://dege.freeweb.hu/
Dragon2781 0
I got it!!!! It's working on XP! I uninstalled F22 2008 and F22 ADF. Then I installed F22 2008 again and make the changes for the resolution. But now I have one problem: My Joystick is not working and I can't activate it in the options because of the crash when I open the options. What I have to add in the game.cfg to activate the Joystick?
Spear 0
.. well..... apply the TAW_RES.COM patch again to get back to normal resolutions (800x600)enter Options, change what you wantthen re-apply the resolution patch (1024x768). but to answer your actual question: CONTROL=1 (for joystick) CONTROL=0 (for keyboard) F-22 2008 not working well because of F-22 ADF was expectable. you never had to install anything except F-22 '08. Dragon2781 0
OK, it's working and I was playing 3-4 hours Makes a lot of fun! Thank's for your engagement!!! But there are some little problems. Maybe can be fixed for the next version? - The Dogfight-Demos in the Training-Mission "folder" are crashing. - All Freeflights are completed at beginning of the missions. - Freelook (F12) is crashing. - The small monitor (5 on Numblock) have a graphic problem. I never had that problem, playing Direct3D on XP MCE.that's because of 1024x768, already fixed over at SimHQ and will be included in next release.
Dragon2781 0
are you sure? you're supposed to automatically die when the dogfight demos begin. Hm... now I'm confused.... Now I remember that I saw a explosion directly after the beginning. Either it will crash after the expolsion or I was wrong. Nevertheless it is not possible to watch a nice dogfight if one of the fighters will explode direct after the beginning. But I don't want to list only the bad things I noticed. I noticed a lot of awesome changes regarding to ADF! First of all the new HUD! Very good work! I saw a HUD-Video of the F22 and it looks really like it. (As I can see in the bad quallity) Then I noticed the new behave of a damaged engine! In ADF it only was to noticed because of the low power and the smoke. Now the engine speed up and down uncontrollably. I don't know if it depends on the level of difficulty but now I can't call the airfield or my wingman if I'm at EMCON 1. I think this is also more realistic. So overall: VERY GOOD WORK!
Dragon2781 0
- The small monitor (5 on Numblock) have a graphic problem. Back to the small IRST MDF: Is it even realistic? In this picture of the F22 cockpit there is no IRST MDF:

ADF and TAW are not so different, that's why we could include ADF's campaigns in here.
