Schatten
Do you have any idea how many friggin' heart attacks I had during that 4th Quarter? Neither do I. I am hoarse from screaming at the TV and I swear when Fitzgerald caught that TD my mom fainted for a good 10 seconds. Ben has this annoying habit of waiting til the very end to seal the deal, I mean yeah it was probably the best Superbowl I've watched in over a decade...but c'mon man, I'm about ready to go on eBay and find an old Heartattack Kids t-shirt to send to him just to make him think about cutting us some slack!!! Oh and by the way... ...that'd be six. :icon_bow:
The Dude
Schatty, I must've mentioned your name 20 times while I was watching the game with the wife. I told her you must be having conniptions after the Cards got that breakaway touchdown. Then when the Steelers came back, but missed the pass in the end zone ... hooo wee, I was thinkin' of you at that moment. It was about then that I said to Gail that the Steelers better win this thing or Schatty is going to be one miserable mother to be around for the foreseeable future. Then the tippy-toe catch in the end zone and all was gouda cheese again. Well, I held my breath for you until the clock ran out. Good times, eh? Schatten
Mentioned me? Hell, I'm surprised you guys didn't hear me swearing all the way up there and told me to pipe down. It wasn't just the 4th Quarter really, the whole Ben tipped interception had me a little wobbly, and then when they reviewed Harrison's 100 yard interception for the TD I think I was pretty fired up. But when Fitzgerald caught that TD I think for the entire trot in I was speaking in tongues and/or inventing new swear words. When the game finally ended I felt like I played in the damn thing I was running on such an adrenaline overload. I still don't know why then went from Cover-2 to what amounted to a Prevent there on those final 2 Cardinals scoring drives. There was way too much time left to be screwing around doing that, other than that the defense was pretty good. I've seen them better but they were damn good. A couple weeks ago Shawn and I were talking about what sort of player the Steelers should draft, we couldn't really come up with anything. I mean awesome Linebackers, the best Safeties in football (no matter what the Ravens may think), an immovable line, extremely good Corners...and that's just on the defense. Then on offense you have a potential TD threat every time your Halfback has the ball, pretty damn good receivers, an excellent QB, possibly the best Tight Ends in football (all around, not just the fancy catchy ball types some teams have), a great kicker and when Sepulvida comes back one of the best punters around. The line is better than people give credit to, since they were built to run block not pass block but as the season went on they got a lot better. So we figured offensive line most likely since it was the weakest (but by no means flat out weak) part of the team. I'm retracting that, we need another Bettis, someone that you can hand the ball off to on 3rd and short and know it's a done deal. Moore is a good receiving back but he's not a great runner, Davis is a great blocking back but again...not a great runner, and Parker can't do between the Tackles straight up smash you in the face short stuff when the other team knows it's coming. Mendenhall was supposed to be that guy, but he was out all year so...if Tomlin calls me up my advice: Draft or trade for a short yardage tank back. That's been our only real Achilles Heel all year, I mean if we had a back like Bettis still you could take those 2 field goals off the board and replace them with 2 TDs. I mean seriously, 1st and goal from the 2 and you can't get it in on the ground? Then later in the game it happens all over again and not only can't you get it in on the ground but you get a new set of downs on the penalty and still can't get it in? That ain't Steeler football. I love the new passing attack, Ben can be a shooter, but man...you need to be able to pick up 3rd and 2's, and especially anything under 3 yards with "goal to go" tacked on the end. But hey we won, so it's all good. But 8 extra points would have done a lot for my blood pressure's stability that's for damn sure! Oh and to add injury to insult, all week long the cable company has been having problems keeping the NFL Network on! On Superbowl week! How rude is that? Especially since I pay extra for it. I mean...I had to watch the NBC Pregame and everything. With Kieth Friggin' Olberman, I nearly shot myself before the game even started.
The Dude
Glad you didn't expire while watching the game. Exciting games like that can be one hell of a workout. Should be a quiet day in Pittsburgh tomorrow, what with all the screaming-induced laryngitis.

Should be a quiet day in Pittsburgh tomorrow, what with all the screaming-induced laryngitis. Actually I'm watching the bonfires in Oakland* on the local news right now, so yeah it'll probably be quiet tomorrow, everyone will have laryngitis and/or hangovers. Oh and they're sanctioned bonfires, Pittsburgh ain't Philly after all... Oh and as an added bonus, the cute brunette weather girl is in black and gold lame (maybe it's silk, "I don't know blouses" - Dr. Evil Voice)...and the studio must be a little on the chilly side. Either that or she got really excited by the game too... :o * The section of Pittsburgh called Oakland, where Pitt is, not the one by San Francisco obviously. Donster
Great game! Way to go Stillers! Cardinals played their guts out too. Put up more of a challenge than I expected. Cheers to both teams!
Stans
I thought the Cardinals might win it, especially when the Steelers incurred a penalty for holding during their last drive and ended up almost back to their goal line. I was sitting on the edge of my seat for the last two minutes of the game. Yeah, it's been a while since I've seen a really exciting Superbowl. Whizkid
Would you believe I turned the TV off halfway through the 4th quarter, figuring at was the Steelers game, so why bother to watch more? I could jump out of the window right now! Trouble is it's only a one story house. Ah, well, wait until next year, when the 49rs will be top dogs, right? Gunny
Well now hold on there Little Brother. I seem to recall telling you that Alabama had a kid coming out early that might make someone a damned fine feature back. Somebody that is big enough to crash the line when it's needed, hands to catch passes out of the backfield and swift enough to break it when there's a hole. He'll probably be there 2nd round or better because I don't think he should have come out, the senior year would have benefited him greatly and he could use the maturing. Other than that, I'd say a good right tackle or guard. Steelers need to rebuild that line. It aint shabby, but it's missing that one or two guys that would make it special. Just my most humble opinion.
