Arsonist charged

Recommended Posts

Not sure what the procedure is down in Oz but I know in the US they'll have all sorts of lawyer-y tricks about evidence suppression, so I'd be surprised if enough about the kiddie porn will make it into the trial to get that additional charge to stick. Then again, you guys may be a little better at getting prosecution evidence in there than they are here.

Back in college I had to take a couple law classes, and one of the statistics that jumped out at me is that it was calculated that between 30-40% of all prosecution evidence at any trial was thrown out for various technical reasons. Whether that's gone up or down over the intervening years I'm unsure, but knowing how our system works probably more is thrown out now than was then even.

If he's convicted, he should have the book thrown at him. Hell they should throw the whole library at him.
