Catapult in Il2: 1946?

That's huge!

Apparently, it works great with Spitfires and other light planes really well, but guys with loaded Corsairs and other fighters with single inline radial engines are having trouble getting enough speed. The wind mod helps to offset this problem somewhat; luckily, it looks like the mod author is going to make a setting where you can adjust the power of the catapult to compensate for individual plane weights.

This is a feature that should have been in PF from the git go ... nice to see the mod community stepping up once again

[Oleg]No! Planes not use catapults until very end of war, and then not much! All else is US propaganda! Be sure![/Oleg]

Which is of course why the prototype F4U had catapult hooks on it when it was designed...in 1939. ;)

Oleg also contended that the plane models in Il2 could not handle the stress of a catapult launch. Kind of makes you wonder exactly how much he really knew about his own sim. This mod has a ways to go before it is reliable, as pointed out by The Dude. It will be a real improvement if the catapult can be adjusted for the weight of each aircraft. Ah, it would be so nice to launch Corsairs loaded with 8 HVAR's and a pair of 500 pounders and a full internal fuel tank.

That's a first Arch, usually I'm putting words into people's mouths, sometimes with a wooden mallet.

What a guy! Doesn't even use a sledgehammer! He's all heart, isn't he?
