Concur. I hate escort missions because they're either a ) boring, or b ) near impossible because you can still shoot everything out of the sky and your package will find a way to get shot down (or miss their targets if they somehow make it to the strike waypoint).

Scramble to get your score up (you can also take CAP flights where there are a lot of bad guys, then go freestyle), then when you get to level 3 you can start the strike missions. That's where winning the campaign really comes into play.

I'd take the cap missions. load em with some mavericks & sidewinders and start shooting sams/AAA to help friendly flights. kill-rearm-kill-rearm up till splash 100 if you're lucky and the game doesn't crash u by then.

Btw is there a way to edit refueller missions launched in campaign default flight altitude for the tankers?

It really sucks when the tankers are flying high and too darn slow for F22 to stabilize on refuelling attempt.

I don't really intend to manually join the missions just to have it set manually <_<

Sorry HF. It was 3.30am when I posted. Just too tied to look. Ye ....thread say it all. I've been transferring my level 5 player status from the PC to the Netbook. It'll be a player.1st issue. Did a re-install on the Netbook with same result as to be inspected. I'll set up a vanilla TAW2.0 on the Netbook and work from there. Its obviously not just a matter of using the Pilot Utility to "re-install" (update) a pilot level to another computer. I'll keep fiddling , its a good exercise for my old brain. Thanks.

Uh...please de-crypt.

Working my way through the first campaign and I find it somewhat frustrating that, when escorting heavies (i.e., KC-135, C-17, etc.), they seem to fly at very low airspeeds for jet aircraft. I find myself having to double-back periodically so as not to get too far out in front of them. My Raptor is throttled back to well under 80% and I'm making around 350 KIA indicated and the heavies are lolling around at maybe 250-260 KIA. Sure makes what should be a fairly evenly paced mission drag on. Using the "skip" function moves me forward to the next event, but the heavies I'm escorting are unaffected and fall even farther behind. May be that this has been brought up before, but I don't recall, so I mentioned it. Apologies if it has.

The Hawkxter is just kidding. excues-me.gif

So you're a fighter jock. :icon_salute3::thumbsup:

The heavies are drink'en coffee & play'en with the crew.

No "Apologies" Do not fly the "escorting heavies", or bail. :popcornsmilie:

Please pardon if this has been brought up before, but I seem to recall the map overlay in the situation MFD used to work well in F-22 ADF. In fact, it still does in TAW when zoomed out to wide cockpit view, but when the MFD is viewed by itself, there is often a black band near the center of the display and it no longer accurately reflects what you see out of the canopy or in the wide view of the cockpit.

Yes, a known problem with the D3D version, and we'd fix it if we knew what to do....

At least it's OK using Glide.

 My Netbook flies TAW2.0 in 800 x 600 D3D. Its the D3D .exe that's the problem and I think it always has been.

Spectre,

What you describe sounds like D3D to a T; I've never heard of this happening with Glide (wrapper or otherwise). Please double check your settings on the Configuration screen and make sure you have Glide with dgVoodoo selected. If you do, select something else, then select Glide w/ dgVoodoo again just to refresh things. Then click the F-22 icon to save your settings.

If you still get the artifact, please take and post a screenshot.

BTW, when we refer to Glide, we are not differentiating between using 3DFX hardware and using a wrapper. In fact, wrapper is implied since 3DFX hardware is hard to find, and the V1/V2 cards don't have good XP/Vista/7 drivers.

Gentlemen, I stand corrected. Despite my having setup dgVoodoo and configuring Glide, at some point it reverted to D3D. I thought I had it all sorted out, but apparently had not. I had to finagle the texture memory size to get smooth frame rates, but at least now I've got it looking good and in wide screen. I appreciate your advice and patience.

23 22 and closing. That's a private joke between Home Fries and myself. ;) But I'll let you into the secret: just see how many posts we each have. :icon_salute3:

Is there a known issue with waypoint auto-advance? Seems I have to manually advance after passing WP-3 on many missions. For some reason it seems to get stuck on 3, but will work properly after over-flying all other waypoints before and after 3.

Not that I am aware of.. But one thing we have noted is that sometimes in MP the Target WP will Move to some location other then the REAL target area.. but the other WP remain the same..

Canb you verify that you are On Auto Pilot Waypoint when this occurs??
