Going, Going, Gone!

Since nobody has been showing up for the Saturday event (which had its time set for interested European players), the officially sanctioned Saturday event is cancelled.

If anybody wishes to resurrect this fly-in, please post here and we'll see about setting it up again. Until then, I'll prefer to sleep in on my Saturday mornings!

Sorry HF. I'm still away with my Notebook. Hope to be back soon for Wednesday's.

Mmm...I hope this is not a far-fetched request, but is it ok if we can have a session on Friday night, the same time as the Wednesday's session? .w.

No, its not "far fetched request". Your are being invited to join a small group of dedicated flyers that try and meet every Wed:

http://combatsim.invisionzone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19543&view=findpost&p=5082475

Some are extremely experience TAW 2.0 Multiplay flyers and an extreme novice (that's me ;) )

You'll need TeamSpeak to communicate and have TAW2.0 Edition 2.15b with Hotfix 2.15c and Patched to Version 2.16 Beta 1 installed. This Forum gives full details on how to achieve the above.

All the best, and maybe we will see you Wednesday.

EDIT: edition/version name changes

No promises, but maybe we could get enough people to sound off for Friday night fly-in, at least for a one-time deal.

Don't worry about the 2.16 Beta 1; if you show up at 8:30 on Wednesday, I'll give you instructions on Teamspeak on how to download it and set it up. Also, if you haven't already set your firewall and router for multiplayer (instructions are in the manual addendum), please come with at the very least the model of your router (and preferably knowledge on how to port forward on your router), and we can try to get that set up as well.

Roger that! I have already opened the ports directed by the Manual Addendum and I also use Hamachi if the need is there. Hope to see you guys on either Wednesday or Friday!

HF: I'll definitely be there Wednesday; please get there early (8:45) so that you can install the beta (we'll be flying some missions from that).

Let me get these times right: Wednesday means Thursday 0045 zulu and Friday means Saturday 0045 zulu?

It looks as though I'll be there this "Wed" (sorry about that ..... :P ) but not "Fri".

HF, is there any chance of reading the mission brief, viewing the map and seeing the recon flight details for the mission, before we step into the cockpit? I just think my habit of hanging back in the flight (sorry Neph) is because of my poor overall situation awareness.

Also HF, and I mean this in the best spirit of multiplay, is it better if we are short of players for escort, that the lead and strike pilot not take up the responsibility of both roles, but rather send in somebody else to take out baddies. I'm thinking of me of course. I need the experience ,but I'm expendable while the lead strike is not and maybe should be directing others to do the dirty work.

Hope no offense taken, but you have to train us novices and this seems such a good chance.

Battie, you're good for 9pm/0100Z. Showing up early is only to get the beta installed (which you have). I'm also looking to upload beta 2 shortly, which will make a couple of minor changes to the Titanic missions (reducing the strike flight to 2 and changing the waypoint altitudes).

No guarantees for me either.

Sorry, but not at this time. I have no real desire to create briefings for these missions until I have them properly balanced and tweaked.

Remember that the #3 player is actually the element lead for the SEAD/Escort package, and I'm also looking at adding players 5 and 6 for the fighter sweep role. That said, if you want practice on something, there's nothing that says that a striker can't engage in AA (though this is usually against tactics if you have an escort flight).

Roger. Hadn't realised that. Its the influence of the great work on the AS campaign.

Roger. My lack of flight package procedures showing again. :(

Was that JDAM I heard? So this is going to be a Strike Mission then? With all the escorting and delivering of the packages it's gonna be exciting I hope.

Speaking of which, I need to re-hone my flying skill just in case I need to be the one carrying the JDAM. xD

It'll be my luck to get GBU-24's :( Not good with that LANTIRN but improving. ;)

Don't worry it'll be exciting and educational. What these boys don't know isn't worth knowing. Just hope HF, Neph and Hawkx are there.

I think I speak for all of us, Hx, Neph, HF and myself, thanks Evergreen for joining us today. Providing my system give us no trouble, we should all be ready to fly tomorrow (Friday)at the same time. I think HF volunteered to join early to overcome any problems you might have. Certainly a group of 5 makes it far more interesting. More the merrier.

In regard to my mode selection problem, it was the Range Knob on my Cougar. I have it set on rotation for SHF H, and H, and it must have been between two options. Fixed now.

Oooops.....I done it again. I was forgetting about time zones. 9.00pm Eastern Time US, Friday is 12.00 midday Eastern daylight saving time Australia, Saturday. Unfortunately I'll be again down at my little old caravan getting ready for the 1500k motorbike ride starting on the Sunday. So won't be able to join you on the "Friday". :(

I'll also unsure if I'll be available next "Wednesday" (after the bike ride but before the MotoGP), but I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for today guys I loved it and I am getting better ........ slowly. ;)

EDIT: Evergreen, not sure if you're using Raptr or ICQ but that's useful if you have other non-programmed times to fly. We all get other times and I know Hx is out there looking as I will be shortly after my sojourn away. It would be good for you and I as our experiences with TAW 2.0 Multiplay are limited and you seem keen as I am. Just a thought.

@Wombat1940: I don't use ICQ anymore but I do use Y!M, AIM, MSN, Skype and Google Talk. If you use any of them let me know and we can communicate through them (this also applies to anyone else who wants to get in touch with me online).

@Home Fries: I don't think I can make it early on Friday, and in facts I might get on about 10 - 20 minutes late due to the fact that I finish work at 5:30 pm Western/ 8:30 pm Eastern and I will need sometimes to make my way home. Also, the current Glide Wrapper configurations that I use seems to work just fine like it did Wednesday so we can leave it for later.

Hope to see you guys on Friday! :B

You might want to check out Raptr, as it integrates most of those into a single IM client. It also uses its own client (which Battie and I use), and tracks your gaming multiplatform (i.e. PC, Steam, Xbox, PS3).

Just curious: what did you do again to get it working? If you could post screenshots of both dgVoodoo screens, I would appreciate it for future reference.

Also, how much RAM do you have on your videocard? Have you tried upconverting your resolution yet? You might want to try upconverting your resolution before going online to see what your performance hit is.
