Stans
Evidently the same mental midgets that run our government are also making the business decisions for the Burger King empire. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33893367/ns/business-food_inc/
No105_Archie
Pretty silly I agree.....but around here at least....a franchise like that is pretty much a "license to print money". The owners live in multi million dollar mansions and drive around in Mercedes Benz limos. If they lost 10% on every burger they sold for the next 6 months they would still make a couple of million this year. Nobody forces them to be Burger King franchisees. They can always sell out and open their own independent burger joint. That is, if they think that they will make more money. But I doubt many will do that simply because, even with this "loss leader" promotion that will still make a fortune this year.
Donster
I tried the new double cheeseburger from the Booger Fling. Pretty damn good. Beats the McDuck's double cheeseburger by a mile. Wendy's double stack for $.99 is still better than both, mainly because it is fresh meat and is cooked right away when ordered. They make their money on the side orders, fries, especially soft drinks, shakes, ice tea and the big money maker at McDucks, their fancy coffees. And more so at the drive-up (no free refills on the soft drinks when dining inside). Just to add...the McDucks new Angus Third Pounder Burgers are the best tasting burger ever to come out of one of their restaurants. The Deluxe and the Bacon & Cheese are to die for. I have learned more about the economics of fast food and its tastiness in your 7 sentences than I have learned in 47 years of driving by those places. I salute your wisdom and your insights, sir
Stans
Same here. I generally avoid the fast food burger joints, I just don't think I need that much fat and cholesterol floating through my arteries. I will go once in a while. Hardee's premium burgers are pretty good, but their fries are terrible.
No105_Archie
There was a documentary on here a while back that showed that McDonald's could actually GIVE AWAY the hamburgers and still make lots of money because they make so much profit off drinks and fries. I can't remember the exact numbers but it went something like ...cost for regular Coke $o.14..selling price $1.50......cost for reg fries $0.27....selling price $2.00 or something in that wild order of magnitude
Stans
Much like movie theaters and ball parks, the admission price may be relatively small, but just wait until you buy a beverage!
JClark
I got two words for you guys when it comes to "fast food": Five Guys. The BEST farkin' hamburger and fries I've ever eaten, bar none. The fries are made fresh every day and cooked in peanut oil. The burgers are hand made top grade beef. A bit more pricey than the standard, but well worth it. http://www.fiveguys.com/home.aspx Boats
Stans
Yep, Five Guys Burgers and Fries is great. A bit pricey, but makes for a nice treat. Another good one is Cheeburger Cheeburger.
No105_Archie
Do you guys have A&W in the states ? I rarely eat burgers, but when I do it's A&W. In the summer they have "cruise nights" every week when all the guys in the antique cars all meet at "the dub" and they go back to the old way of service where you flash your lights and the waitress comes out to the car. Spectre_USA
I didn't click the link, so am only working off the surprising number of comments. I tried one of the new Angus burgers at McBurp's last week and was amazed. It had been months since I darkened the doorway of that particular establishment, but I needed air in the snows I'd put on the day before, so gave them a shot at lunch. It was so much better than the grease spot on a bun I was used to from them, and why I hadn't been. Did a little Googling when I got back to work, and found out why. There are a whole bunch more ingredients than their usual burgers, but if I wanted health food, I would not ave been in there. It was much better. As to Bugerini Kingi, most of the ones in our area have closed in the last few years, not sure why...

TCat
You youngsters never learn. Just slap the hell out of your old lady and make her cook for you like I do! Stans told me that those hot dogs contain lips and assholes but they're pretty good. Millions of baseball fans can't be wrong!
