Stans
Massive schedule of patients today as people want to get their work done before the snow storm. The "official Weather Channel" forecast is now for 3 to no more than 6 inches of snow. These are the same people that contend the globe is still warming and we will all spontaneously combust in seven years if we don't shut down our economies by 5:38 tomorrow morning. An independent weather forecasting group is calling for 8 to 15 inches. This group very accurately predicted our December storm. Y'all have a good day, I'm off to the grind. Chopper
Good morning all. Getting a little chilly now @ -7C/19F. So far on track for the mildest winter on record. That'll make it 3 consecutive years in a row of record setting.
The Dude
Morning. Warmed up quite nicely yesterday. Saw sunshine for the first time in a week, too Amazing how a little bit of sun can lift one's spirits Quote for your day: All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence; then success is sure. ---Mark Twain (1835 - 1910), Letter to Mrs Foote, Dec. 2, 1887
Joker
It's 47F this morning in SF, looks like the rain might hold off today. Problem with the weather is, people have come to assume that we can actually forecast it long-term as well as we can short-term. You know, sorta like they assume the holodeck on the starship Enterprise is real. Sure, the climate is changing. Always has, always will. By all means, let's control pollution. But don't expect environmental legislation to make our planet any less scary and unstable than it always has been. I mean, look at the weather during the thirteenth century. Wouldn't surprise me if, in twenty years, we're all worrying about another Little Ice Age.

Yep, the sun just broke through the fog, and it's drying up. Another storm headed in tomorrow, though. Y'all have a good one, and think of all the loot Stans is pulling in! Hey, Chopper, send some of that mild weather my way, it's about to turn frickin' abnormally cold again... with snow... I hate winter.
Donster
Just got home from an afternoon long appointment at the local St. Lukes Hospital Diabetes Education Center. Group meeting was supposed to start at 1pm. Want me there at 12:30 for paper work. Was there at 12:20. Did paper work and 1 on 1 meeting with nurse, then went straight to group meeting room at 12:45. Friggin' people who were supposed to be there by 1pm were late, so group meeting didn't start until 2pm. I was ready to walk out at 1:30. And there were only three others for the group plus me! Two were elderly, and one of the those two did nothing but argue with the Sister (Dietitian) about everything she said and how he couldn't understand this and that and the why and what fors. Yep, those elderly dudes are a real pain in the butt, ain't they? But you'll be different when you get to be over-the-hill, won't you? Yeah, right! Guess you've got the old Diabetes, eh, Donnie? My missus was just diagnosed with Type 2, so she's starting on the meter readings, etc, etc, but she's real cool about it as her whole family and their Hispanic history was the giveaway, and she kind-of expected it. Just have to give up all that high-carb stuff, and fly right, buddy!
Donster
I've had Type 2 Diabetes for years. But the oral meds aren't doing the job anymore. So going back through the classes again (Doctors orders) to begin taking insulin injections. Closer tracking over the next few weeks to try and help with the dosage and hopefully lower the amount of oral meds. And my problem is, as most of us Yanks, is portion control. Teaching this dog new tricks ain't gonna be easy as habits die hard. Oh and I wasn't trying to come off as being upset or mad at the elderly man today in my earlier post just because of his age. He could of been 25 and still would have been driving the length of the class to way longer than it should have been. Oh and he was much older than you Whiz. You're just a kid compared to this guy. I think he was more scared than anything. He lives alone, set in his ways ya know. The Sister asked him how much walking he did. He said he does like to take walks when he goes to the Casino. From the Slots to the Buffet and back.
