Stans
It's not a F4U-1D, or a -1A, this Corsair is a F4U-1. Story from WGN
Whizkid
That's really cool! Couple of years and it should be back flying, right?

Stans
Latest information on the recovery of the F4U-1. It will be restored to static display only and placed in the National Museum of Naval Aviation. All abandoned USN equipment is still property of the USN, all such recoveries are joint USN/private ventures with recovered items remaining the property of the USN. This is the official policy after the court battle over the North Carolina F3A-1A Corsair in which the USN lost the case, but was granted sole ownership of all unrecovered items from that point forward.
