Many years ago it was a pretty simple process to remove such relics, ship them out and restore them. Today it is a different story. The island governments know what they are worth and usually won't let anyone take them away, at least not without a lot of hassle, red tape, fees, licenses, etc. Keeping the jungle growth off is about all that is allowed.
