Stans
Mouthwash that eliminates the bacteria that cause cavities? I better look into taking some college classes so I can start another career. Seriously, such things have been promised for decades. This might actually come to fruition, then again the FDA might shoot it down. http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2011/11/19/ucla-microbiologist-develops-smart-bomb-against-cavities-tooth-decay/

Stans
Actually, the trial lawyers have a far bigger lobby group. I think pet food lobbyists actually outnumber the dental lobbyists. Seriously, if this comes to fruition, it will be a huge leap forward in dental care. The Dude
I always thought hydrogen peroxide could kill mouth bacteria. Something like a 1% or 2% solution in water, if I recall my chemistry correctly. Chairman Mao used green tea; it turned his teeth green as grass, but, I'm told, it works to prevent gum disease and even cavities. Apparently the anti-oxidants in specific green teas (some are better than others) do a very good job killing the bacteria. Do old chinese people have great teeth? Lo Pan had some bitchin' white teeth, so maybe it's true?
Stans
Green tea is very high in antioxidants and tea does help prevent tooth decay... so long as you are not sweetening your tea with sugars. Hydrogen peroxide certainly can kill bacteria, but it is non-selective and if you kill all of the bacteria in your mouth the fungi that also live your mouth will take over and give you a nasty thrush infection. Also, in order for H2O2 to kill those bacteria you have to hold it in your mouth for a while. The non-selective nature of H2O2 also means you will be killing your gums and the mucosal lining inside your mouth. You will have whiter teeth, though. You'll just be in too much pain to smile and show them off.
