Stans
Maybe... The CF-105 has been proposed as a replacement for the planned purchase of U.S. built F-35's. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/will-legendary-avro-arrow-make-lazarus-like-return/article4530724/ It's likely just a pipe dream, but it is politics and that's where really strange things can happen. Stag
Not as dumb as it sounds. Consider; airframe development pretty much plateaued in the '80s. The only real innovation is with advanced composite materials. Add modernised engines, avionics and weapons and there's no reason it couldn't be a contender. Basically they'd be doing what air forces all around the already world do; upgrading an existing design. Granted, it a bit odd that it's a design that's not been fully developed yet... No105_Archie
Don't get me started on the Avro Arrow. The single greatest F#&K up by a Canadian gov't in lving memory. I can never forgive Deifenbaker for that. But to bring it back now is a crazy idea. It's a 1950's design
Donster
Would be a great interceptor against Cold War Russian bombers, but how would the CF-105 be as a dogfighter/multi-role capable aircraft? Better off with one that is multi-capable.
