Donster
U.S. Air Force 2nd Lt. Vernal J. Bird disappeared over Papua New Guinea while flying an A-20G Havoc, on a 1944 bombing run of Japanese airfields there. He was 25. Welcome home 2nd Lt. Vernal J. Bird. You can now rest in peace back home where you belong.
Stans
Welcome home and may you now rest in peace, lieutenant Bird. Oh, and an error I found in the article. The remains of Bird's co-pilot, Staff Sgt. Roy Davis from New Hampshire, have not been found. The A-20 Havoc did not have a copilot, only a pilot and a gunner, glass nosed A-20's sometimes carried a bombardier, but never a copilot. News people really should do their homework. That would require effort on the reporters part. Can't have any of that nowadays.
