cobraj 21
yeah if you add up all the hours , years and years of virtual flying!
Joker 1
Thinking back, I believe that Battle of Britain: Their Finest Hour might have mixed dynamic with static missions in the campaign. There was this one mission where you had to take off in the middle of a bombing raid, similar to the one Jim recalls building for RB. Fiendishly difficult. The LucasArts flight-sims designed by Larry Holland and his team were quite ahead of their time, and I'm including the Star Wars sims. How I'd love to play something like those games today. cobraj 21
Loved xwing! Tie fighter was amazing too.. Imagine how cool in todays graphics.. Anyone get hooked on the wing commander series including when Mark Hammil and former porn star Ginger lynne were incorporated into the newer games!
Gunny 6
Played Privateer to death. Played the first three WC's. Didn't know Ginger was in WC. May have to go back for a second look.
Home Fries 8
Wing Commander I and II were the catalyst for my bad grades my sophomore year of college! I did play WC3 and 4 as well, though in WC3 I opted to hook up with Flint in lieu of Ginger. It's good to be Blair. WC4 was probably my favorite, though. Great storyline and conflicted loyalties, though the "choose your own adventure" finale after the final fight was kind of cheesy.
cobraj 21
:rolleyes:Yeah I picked Flint as well... She had way less mileage on her..
Joker 1
Privateer. Oh, man. Loved. That. Game. Still have nightmares about Retros. "Die by the very weapons you adore!"
cobraj 21
yeah weren't they some kind of religious fanatic group.. There were also pirates. I was making a killing selling Brilliance!
Joker 1
Not to mention the slave trade!
cobraj 21
ha ha the slave trade I forgot about that. There was one mission I kept getting destroyed over and over , because of just too many pirates. I found out if you got into the slave trade the pirates would leave you alone and I was able to complete the job! Lot's of cool things in that game..
Joker 1
Yeah, it was a classic, Jay. Another game I wish somebody would simply port over with modern graphics.
Home Fries 8
Yeah, it was a classic, Jay. Another game I wish somebody would simply port over with modern graphics. http://privateer.sourceforge.net/ There's also some really good Wing Commander universe stuff with the Freespace 2 engine. http://www.wcsaga.com/
