When it rains...

Lottie and I were watching "Young Frankenstein" last night when she said that there were light flashes and what looked like centipedes in the vision of her left eye. She said it suddenly became blurry out of that eye too. She called our eye Doctor, who happened to be on call, and he said call the office in the morning. She did and I picked her up from work and took her to his office. After dilating her eye and exam, he said she had Posterior Vitreous Detachment, where the Vitreous jel like substance in the eye tore away from the Retina. Where the tear is he said is enough that he needs to do laser surgery on it to prevent the Retina from detaching. That would not be good, as it could cause blindness. So Wednesday morning she is having the procedure. He said it wasn't painful and wouldn't take along time. But man, seems like to much bad stuff is happening to both of us this year.

Oh and Stans, I would guess you are dealing with this or have dealt with it, but the eye Doc and nurse both had to enter Lotties info into a software program they had just received in the past few weeks. He isn't happy about having to use it, because it is forced on him and his colleagues by our Government for Obamacare. I didn't ask, but I would venture to guess they had to pay for it too.

So sorry to hear about Lottie's eye problem, but it is not exactly uncommon. Treatment is painless and highly successful. I'm sure that she will be fine, so do not worry.

As for using national medical software, so far, dentistry has been exempt as it is not a part of Obamacare. If the ADA gets its way, dentistry will be included and dentists will have to use the national patient database software.
