Morning. -5F under clear skies with -22F wind chill. Our focus continues to be squarely on the system for this afternoon and tonight. This will be all snow, and we expect no mixed precipitation. Given the storm track and temperatures being so cold, a widespread 5-7" appears likely at this time, primarily between 3pm-11pm. The snow is likely to fall at 1"/hr at time, leading to difficulty keeping up with it. The good part is that winds will be light during the time that the snow is falling, but will likely pick up as the snow exits. Following this system is the second thing we have been talking about for the better part of four days - the brutal cold. This cold will equal any of the Arctic blasts last year, and may get very close to the Arctic blast that hit the area in 2009. Expect wind chills to approach -40 and air temperatures to hit -20 or colder, particularly Wednesday and Wednesday night.
