And then there is this from 1985.

This was when I was putting myself through college by working in a Winn-Dixie supermarket. On Friday night, the freight door in the stock room would be opened and there would be a trailer jammed full of fresh stock for the shelves. We had a boom box and when this song played, the boom box went to full volume and we all sang as we unloaded that trailer. Hard work, but good times actually.

Oh, yes, the drum machine! Synthesizer keyboards that could more-or-less replicate any musical instrument and even record sounds to be played as musical notes. Those were the days, my friend. I never played the keyboard, I was busy in my spare time trying to master the electric guitar, which I never mastered, just muddled along. Some have musical talent, others do not, I fell into the latter.

Sometimes, things can be just TOO eighties. :)

While synth bands had been around for a while (RIP Edgar Froese), this was the first that I remember becoming a big mainstream hit.
