Typical race ...

at Talladega. Nose to tail train racing punctuated by a big crash at about the half way mark taking out about one half of the field. Then another big crash at the end to take out about half of those who survived the first big crash. Heck of a race, once again Mark Martin was in the wrong place at the wrong time. :(

Some nice driving by Mikey Waltrip today! He just didn't have enough car to stay ahead of Jeff Gordon.

Man, don't say things like that around my wife! If there'd been anyone wearing a #24 ballcap in the house today, he'd have walked out with just two feet sticking out of that hat! She was PISSED at what happened to Dale Jr. I wasn't too happy about seeing Ryan Newman get collected up in the "Big One". Seriously, hell of a race by Jeff Gordon, hat's off to the Rainbow Warrior ;)

Yeah, old Jeff had a car so fast that no one could catch him, just like years ago when Ray Evernham was his chief. Of course, old Ray was bending the rules and ultimately was caught. Jeff seemed unusually fast and I expect NASCAR will be giving that car a real close post race inspection.

You didn't see it? Jeff's car got pulled right from Victory Lane to post race inspection, whereupon it got a very close look under the hood...and damn the bad luck, they didn't find anything :o

Yep, as usual old Mark's luck held true. :( I would really like to see Mark with the points race this year since it will be his last. He has finished second in the points three times in his cup career, a first would sure be a nice send off. The odds of him actually winning are slim. Mark is a real nice guy, all around gentleman, let's his car and skill get him around the track and doesn't seem to want to bump and push like the young drivers. Unfortunately, that's what it takes to win races these days. Michael Waltrip is usually not real aggressive, but he showed some aggressive driving at Talladega and if his car had been just a wee bit faster he would have out run Gordan and taken the race.

He tried to go to victory lane without getting a spoiler check. They sent him down. Good race too bad it wasn't as god as it could have been.
