Morning all. 57F and overcast. Humidity down to 89%. We’ve got another unseasonably cool day on our hands here in eastern Iowa. Highs will top out into the low 70s, making it feel almost like fall with absolutely no humidity thanks to an easterly wind. We’ll see some sunshine again today to help compensate for the temperatures. A few isolated sprinkles are possible, but otherwise we stay dry and of course cool.

Now we are dealing with another type of Canadian Invasion...

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says smoke from dozens of wildfires in Canada is causing potentially dangerous conditions in Eastern Iowa.
The DNR says a plume of smoke from the distant fires caused a spike in particle levels in the air Tuesday, leading to levels that exceeded federal standards in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Davenport, Muscatine and other cities.
The smoke, which had been sitting around cloud level — at least several thousand feet in the air — for the past week, was brought closer to the ground by a cold front, according to First Alert Storm Team Meteorologist Joe Winters. Behind the front, the air sank rapidly, pulling the smoke to the ground, he explained.
The smoky air can be dangerous to people with respiratory problems or heart disease. The DNR recommended children and elderly people limit prolonged outdoor activities until the air clears.
Those conditions lasted during the morning but gradually cleared as the day went on.
The smoke is from wildfires in northern Saskatchewan.
