Morning all. 17F under partly cloudy skies. Wind chill at 7F. The warm up continues in Eastern Iowa as the East Coast gets battered by a major winter storm. With more sunshine Saturday, temperatures will warm up to the upper 20's. It won't be as cold Saturday night with clouds moving in and lows near 20F.

Morning y'all, 25F and a light mix of sleet and snow combined with a steady 20 mph wind out of the north, gusting to 35 mph.  Looks like temperatures remained cold enough that the freezing rain stayed to the southeast, just sleet and snow for my area.  Expecting a high of 31F today and 1-2 inches of sleet and snow before ending somewhere around 7 PM tonight.  Overnight lows will drop to 19F and tomorrow should be sunny with a high of 39F.  So, not as bad as initially forecast!

Now that it is light, I can see a glaze of ice on the vertical surfaces of the deck railings, so I guess we got a little freezing rain sometime during the night.  The department of transportation is advising everyone to stay home, roads are still covered with a layer of ice and snow.  Some of the local malls are closed today, many businesses are closed.  What a mess.
