Stans
Today marks the first flight of the newly restored B-29 "Doc". The first attempt at takeoff was scrubbed due to the forward bomb bay door failing to fully lock into the closed position. This problem was quickly rectified and Doc's wheels left the runway at 09:59 hrs EDT! She is currently flying circuits around the field.

Stans
Press conference was really more of a thank you show for those who restored the aircraft, crewed it today and to the congressman and others who convinced the USAF to allow the use of McConnell AFB's runway. Seems that other than the bomb bay door issue, all went well. I'm sure more test flights will be conducted. "Doc" was piloted by the pilots who fly "Fifi" as the FAA requires pilots to have a type certification for aircraft of this size. As far as I know, the only pilots who hold this certification are the crew of "Fifi". They will be teaching the crew of "Doc" how to fly the B-29, then the FAA can issue a type certification to the crew of "Doc".
