Quad SLI coming to a case near you.

It can be hard enough keeping a computer with one high end video card cool, can you image trying to cool four? I'm thinking the computer will need its own air conditioning unit. Hmmm... that gives me and idea.

That and the fact that most can't afford to by 4 frickin' video cards.

I expect this motherboard will probably be around $300 by the time it hits the market, maybe a bit more. NV 6800 GT cards will probably be down around $200, so $1100 just for the board and video cards, then RAM and a processor.... I think a single card with a physics chip is going to be about as fast and a lot cheaper. This quad SLI will end up as a blip on the radar screen and is likely to soon be an interesting historical artifact of computers.

Yeah, and to run such a rig you will certainly need a dual core CPU at speeds that have yet to be thought about. Actually, the current crop of high end cards are usually bottlenecked by the CPU. The fastest graphics accelerator cards are useless if the data cannot be processed fast enough by the CPU. Dual core CPU's may be the next big wave.

You guys are just thinking speed. What about 4 displays? Try Pacific fighters with 4 screens and see if your situational awareness does not improve! I have played it with 2 running and that is pretty cool.

I have this thing called Track IR. Granted, multiple screens increases the field of view, but Track IR makes sim flying a lot easier. After trying it, I don't want a sim without Track IR support. So here I sit with FS 2004 and Wings Over Vietnam sitting on my desk awaiting installation. I have the two patches for WOV. I tell ya, Best Buy is going to put me into bankruptcy.

Yea I have a TrackIR too and I love it. But it still means you move your head. Nothing tracks your eyes yet so big screens are the way to go for more imersion. Peripheral vision is nice to have too which along with lack of inertia are my main two complaints about computer sims.

Pro sims use BIG displays, I tried two monitors with Pacific fighters, you can set the res manually in the config.ini file. I think if you had 4 in a row it would actually show the view over the wing, not just a bigger version of what you normally see. Then you could use your eyes. I set it up with a monitor overhead and it was pretty nice to be aware of what you were following in a stall turn while still being able to glance at your gauges. But I canned it in the end because when you split the res between even numbers of displays your new center is then between two screens. I was using CRTs so there was a lot of plastic in the way. Come to think of it, three screens are the way to go then...but get this...lots of card now support two displays anyway. So with 4 you could set up 8 screens at say 800X600 each and they should all run them fine! Man alive!

I'd really like one really big screen, like the simulators the military and big time airlines and aircraft manufacturers use. Let's see, if I could find a house with a dry basement, convert the basement (or a portion of it) for sims, build a full cockpit.....

Oh, and I just installed FS 2004 and also added a B-25J in RCAF markings. Checked the sound files and I already have a major woody!!!! I do love the B-25 and those incredibly noisey engines. Wonder if I could learn to paint and change those RCAF markings to PBJ-1J markings? Hmmmm....

Supposedly WOV does. I know PF does. Last night I loaded up a F4U-1D with two 500 pounders and eight 5 inch HVAR's. Checked to see which was weapon 3 and 4. Seems 3 launches the HVAR's in pairs, weapon 4 must be the pylon release as I blew up when I toggled button 4. What can I say? We learn by trying. ;)
