Stans
Well..... I'm not entirely satisfied. It's ok. My local airport is there, but the surrounding scenery is not even close to accurate, major roads missing. The freeware B-25 I downloaded looks and sounds nice, but the cockpit is 2D only, no virtual cockpit, might have to buy Mid Atlantic Air Museum's B-25 add on. I'll have to fly some more to see if I really want to keep this one. It would be nice to have a civilian sim, especially one that does have my local field. And is it just me, or does this thing only work really well in 800x600 resolution? When I select my native 1024x728 then go to the create flight screen, I get an inverted, large, black "T" cutting through the top 1/3 of the screen. Stans
Cruised around last night and found a nice T-28C in both Navy and Marine colors. Virtual cockpit looks nice, though not fully clickable. The aircraft seem to handle the way they should, at least based on what I have seen at air shows. Sound packages are nice, something that is severly lacking in the IL2 series. It's not the smoothest sim I have seen and graphics are a tiny bit disappointing considering this is a relatively new sim. I still haven't figured out the resolution thing. No matter what I pick, the in game looks the same, just anything above 800x600 makes the "Create Flight" screen unusable. I get the distinct feeling this sim did not have the GF6800 Ultra PCIexpress card in mind or Nvidia's drivers don't get along that well with FS 2004. But, this sim is very easy on the graphics card, temps rise only to the low 60's C instead of the low to mid 70's C with Pacific Fighters. The MS sim is cpu intensive though.
