Morning y'all, clear skies and 56F to start Friday, but the clear skies will not stay for long.  Around sunrise, clouds will begin to appear and we are expecting a cloudy day, a high of 75F, and showers and thunderstorms beginning around 1400 hrs and continuing until the very early hours of Monday.  It figures, this is the weekend for NASCAR to come to Richmond and it will rain all weekend.

Morning all. Overcast skies and 34F. Cloudy and windy. A sprinkle or flurry is possible. Winds out of the SW at 20-30 MPH, gusting to 40 MPH. High today reaching 42F.

We had a rare case of "Dirty Rain" yesterday. It was a really weird phenomenon, that's for sure!

We had a number of people notice their cars were surprisingly dirty or dusty after the rain ended on Thursday. Every raindrop condenses onto a tiny piece of dust, dirt, salt, or things like that. But in this case, there's an awful lot of that dust or dirt being left behind after the rain evaporates.

It seems that the strong, dynamic storm system moving across the region may have pulled in quite a bit of dirt and dust from the southern United States as it was forming, then lofted it into the clouds. As precipitation fell, the dust and dirt did, too.

Weird?  Yes, but it does happen.  Even here in Virginia, I've seen plenty of times, especially during very dry periods, where you leave work and find all these tiny dirt clods on your car.
