Watched Frank Burns' Governor Northam's update today.  Another jump in positive tests and Virginia lags far behind most states in testing.  Most of the new positives are coming from nursing homes.  Based on today's numbers and address, Virginia will not be opening for business any time soon.  The governor pointed out that we continue to see more positive cases every day.  He also said he has not decided if he will extend the public health order, which closed most medical and all dental offices.

Not getting out of the lock down here in Iowa anytime soon either. Another hog processing plants employees tested positive with another 100 CV cases. "The Iowa Department of Public Health on Friday announced 191 new cases of COVID-19 in Iowa as well as four new deaths. In response to this, Gov. Reynolds on Thursday said she was banning “all gatherings” for social, community, recreational and leisure purposes in the region." We live in region 6, which is in the same region as this new meat processing plant is in.

What bothers me is that this virus is not going to go away.  It will be at least like the flu and maybe more like smallpox. It may be persistent and not seasonal like the flu.  Until there is an effective vaccine, and the notion of that being less than 12 months away is a fantasy, we are going to have to have to make a tough decision.  Either learn to live with it and take reasonable precautions, or stay at home and enter a global depression that will make The Great Depression seem like a minor recession.

We have to live with it, do everything possible to mitigate it as hot spots arise. We cannot keep going on this way. Thousands of businesses will not return if we get back to "normal" now. The Democrats think we can give everyone $2000 a month forever and stay inside. Just keep printing money. Cannot do it for more than a few months. Fauchi said this virus will continue for another 18 months or more, and a vaccine or a new treatment will be what stops it. The Chinese have done what they set out to do IMHO. Can't beat America by fighting a war, so destroy our economy instead. I firmly believe they released the virus on purpose. Sacrificing some of their own people is nothing to them when you have 1.5 billion to use. And they were able to use the Chinese New Year to their advantage to spread the disease world wide. They knew the US and Western nations would shut down in order to save lives. Knowing, especially the US, would do that without question. We try to preserve life at all costs and they have taken advantage of it. They also stopped all of the shipping of medical protection supplies. They even ordered a ship full of the supplies we had ordered way before this 'pandemic' happened to turn back to China. China is no longer taking a back seat to the USA now. They are coming out of this as 'the' global power financially. They own most of our debt from the past 20 years or so. They have us by the short hairs now. They produce most of our medications, along with India. If we try to do something to China financially, they will stop shipping those life saving medications to the states. We are reaping what we have sewn for the past 30 years shipping off our factories to other parts of the world, especially China, for profits. Never trust the Chinese Communist government. We have and are paying the price.
